With the recent warming up of Singapore and other Asian stock markets, can we expect the financial results of UOBKH in the next few quarters to improve as compared to the poor 2014?

Interesting comment by UKH management:

We expect market sentiment regionally to remain subdued for the first half of 2016 due to a slowing China economy, volatile commodity prices, especially oil, and unstable exchange rates. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we are generally optimistic that the market could recover towards the second half of 2016 on the back of compelling regional market valuation and pent up liquidity.

at one of the lowest p/b in its history, but given market volume, hardly suprising. Gd thing is nature of biz : Balance sheet mostly liquid. Still market leader. Good branding.

Any thoughts anyone?

Any buddy vested in this? Earnings yield at current price about 5 to 6%. Dividend about 3%. Pb 0.8 pe 16.5. A tad high. Albeit for market leader.

Well, this is definitely hot in my watch list (not vested) for only one reason:
1. The boss always buying and artificially pop up the price.
sadly, he only buy small small which means that he just wanted to keep the price at his buy level.
otherwise, he could just buy big big and do something big.

So, my game plan was to be patient...
I'm quite sure that the boss only buy small small and one day the price will drop and then he become greedy...
then, he will let the ball drop for me to pick up.

or, may be there will be a bad news (what else??) and then the price drop sharply and to be pick up by our value buddies.

Until that happen, just do my normal stuff... drink coffee, people watching, traveling and behappyalways.

In UOBKH's 1H2020 financial results,
- revenue 1H2020 vs 1H2019 increased by 90%
- profit 1H2020 vs 1H2019 increased by 167%

It makes me wonder whether it is the retail investors who are driving up the prices of some stocks e.g. Medtecs (P/E 564x), Top Gloves (P/E 182x)

"With the exception of our Indonesia office, all our regional operations benefited substantially from commissions generated from the largely retail led trading volumes from the unprecedented volatility."    [emphasis mine]

Meanwhile, over at the US side, some examples of hot stocks : Tesla is trading at P/E 820x, Amazon at P/E 137x, and then in HKSE, e.g. Tencent at P/E 45x.

All these are happening when some say it is the worst or one of the worst crisis ever, notwithstanding a lot of cheap money floating around. The investors seem to be betting on good profit growth or even higher valuations.

How much longer can this stock stay under radar?

Just look at ifast.

UOBKH has been very conservative in its business and growth strategies. It is a steady ship, with consistent dividends. But it doesn't look like they intend to go far or fast.

At the right price, this will be a good company to own.

Although its earnings for this year may be higher due to increased trading activities, long-term investors may want to consider the possibility of earnings reverting to mean, assuming that the pandemic will soon fall away. The valuation of some securities suggests that some parts of the market believe -- whether consciously or otherwise -- that the pandemic will be around for a very long time.

Many work from home are trading more from home. Working in office is more restricted .
