I have sold half of my shares as it has reached 1:1 in terms of cost :profit and will be using the output to switch to any opportunities that arise.

Does it mean 2-baggars for your Starhub stock? Tongue

Well, not sure if it is 2-bagger in a literal sense as it only becomes a 2 bagger after I add last years dividend. ;P

Hello KopiKat, I accumulated at around the same time as you, when it was around 1.90. I can definitely understand your reason for selling, but what other alternative investment are you considering? The entire stock market is rather frothy now and the dividend plays are offering around 5% yield. I do not see too many investment outlets if I divest Starhub. The ideal of holding even more cash is unattractive as inflation will erode real wealth

Is it really a Bull market now? STI index is still below 3000. But it's a little strange to me. Most of the "major' stocks' prices have gone up more than usual compare in the past few weeks or months . Some even reach or exceed their 52 weeks' high. Alamak! i have sold some of my stocks too early leow.
When most people think it's a bear, then it's a bull. And vice versa. i think that's how retail investors are being "manipulated". i am not complaining as i still have profit to be realised. Well, who can time the market? No, not me. (My 2 cents). TongueBig Grin

NB:
i had seen unbelievable, euphoria high bull market but i had always sold almost everything, too early. It is really hard for me not to sell when there is a moving bull market.

Well I don't understand why markets keep going up either. Then again, since I invest based on valuations, it shouldn't be too big of an issue. For now, I just wait.....

O. K. So when will you consider to sell your stock? At what value you think or the market think? Or some other "yardstick" or numbers? Surely you should have a chance to consider to sell your stocks for some capital profit? Big Grin

Just a question i have.

Is starhub still a good stock given it now trades at a PE ratio of 19.7 and forward PE of 18.2 (assuming 8% earnings growth). With a yield of 5.5% and a payout ratio close to 100%. Or is everyone rushing into teleco stocks for safety against bad economic conditions and creating a bubble in these stocks?

Very nice cartoon. Big Grin

I have always noticed a strange phenomenon in Singapore markets. Investors here do not buy according to value. They buy according to the dividends that they are paying. Didn't you all realised that market would go up when it comes to dividend paying season? I believe the market is going up on expectation of the 3Q results or maybe the dividends that some companies would be giving. For StarHub, it could be because of the coming 4G network, new pricing tier and of course the $50 per lot dividend that they are giving every quarter.

Don't you all find it strange that SingTel, been the biggest player in Singapore could not catch up with StarHub? The only explanation I can think of is the dividends that StarHub is giving. It certainly appears that there are no stopping of the rise of StarHub. Would StarHub be the only stock which defy the explanation that what goes up must come down? Hmmm.....
