how is it going to be effective if some people "BYOL"?
>> not just selling ban but also include drinking ban

Anyway it's just like a doctor treating the symptom but not the cause. It may works but temporary only. i think we are disillusioning ourselves. No???
>> We need to gives constructive criticism. If this is not the right way, then what's your suggestion? what should we do to address the cause?

Since I'm a Singaporean so I will answer your question addressed to me, but let me qualify that I am not trained in legal matters.

Rioting is a serious crime; so are murder, rape, etc. Which is more serious? Personally, I will view it case by case. I'm not sure if the law considers the consequence of each crime and mete out punishment accordingly; and specifically if the Singapore law prescribes a heavier punishment for rioting than murder.

This is not a question to Singaporeans; and certainly not relating to my policy since I'm not a policy maker. But I was disappointed as I was hoping that you could state your proposed remedial action(s) that must be taken.

Your ability to twist and interpret things negatively is astounding.

One of the side effects of having more FW/FTs in this island is the dilution of the Sg identity and leading to events that occured lately like strike, riot, accident. No local and likely any foreigner can ever imagine a riot will happen in Sg. Something have changed in the pass few years and what are they? I think most people, and even the foreigners working here, can tell quite easily.

My entire quote is below... doesn't it sound strange that this forum is becoming so cynical that reasonable doubts are not even entertained, even when asking for clarifications? Seriously? And coming from what I deemed as a pretty clear-minded forumer.

Why do we have to be anti-govt or pro-govt? Isn't objectivity important skill for a value investor?

Your prayer is answered: Army 20 years ago and friend as current nurse. But she's no medic going out in ambulances, so I have my doubts, as well as my memory, though the video already provides good clues. I do hope you have a better inside understanding to ask in a condescending way.

Point is I am thankful that it didn't turn out much worse which kbl has picked up

Things could have turned for the worse.

I believe that there are other forums that are more suited to your taste. I love this forum as it is now. No, I am not talking about the question that you ask for clarification but the cynicism that you are experiencing. Read clearly.

Cityfarmer has took a stand on what can be posted and what cannot be posted and I support what he wrote though I can't find it as there are too many pages in this thread. Any wrong or misinformation can lead to lawsuit and valuebuddies been a small forum would not be able to take such hits. No, I am not saying that you have wrote anything that would lead to such cases.

I would certainly want this forum to remain as serious as it is. Smile

Cityfarmer,

I know you are doing all this moderation free of charge. It's better to set a guideline on what can be posted and what cannot be posted and to enforce as it is since you are the only moderator in this forum and would not be able to handle if it goes out of hand.

Cheers.

Without the Govt implementing strict laws and initiatives to promote harmony; and Singaporean constantly staying on our toes in response to matters especially relating to race and religion, I CAN imagine a riot happening in Singapore even without the recent influx of foreigners.

This is even more so today when it is so easy to start something by posting on the social media and then go viral.

Yes, I admit that my question was asked in an offensive way. My apologies. But your reply also demonstrated that your basis of recollection is very flimsy, as suspected.

Ambulances are designed with dual handles, i.e. it can be operated from either direction. Otherwise, it will just be a mobile coffin if there is an accident. In any case, don't take my word for it. Just visit your nearby fire station whenever there is an open house.

Do you want to be the moderator? Then you can do whatever you want and set standards to your definition of "objectivity" and "be serious". Smile
