Riots in Little India

On a more micro level, traffic police should go regulate the traffic in Little India.

I am a believer in the broken windows theory. Coz people typically not bold enough to commit crimes
and must be reminded so. low level and high level FTs should be 'de-balled' to Singaporeans level (like what LKY did).

Drived pass before, the police are there alright, a couple here and there but saw some of the vids on youtube, no way the police can control, there are at least 300-500 of them crowding around the scene.
I believe the accident is bound to happen someday. Those Indians just cross the road without regards to the rule of traffic. After taking that route 2-3 times previously, I avoided the area totally.

Think time to seriously look into other option.
Singapore no longer a safe haven.
It is so fragile with so many FT and beside our own multi racial citizen, it's just like a time bomb waiting to explode

Our Home Affairs very good in arresting people for under age sex and issue summons but come to real situation, completely hopeless. They failed to read the situation and crowd.
They failed to have adequate back up
They are really very inexperience, everyday hide inside the aircon office.

This incident had shown to all especially FT we are softies in our Law and Order and will be tested again, just wait and see.

Mob mentality.
Under the influence of alcohol, which I believe the whole bunch of them consumed would have embolden them to do stupid things.
Once they realised that no one is stopping them, more joined in. This type of scene is very common in India, I believe.
Yes, they probably know that this is not India, but if it can be done in India, why not here.
Drunkens are irrational.
Be it an indian drunken, an ang moh drunken or chinese drunken, seen them all, the effect is the same.

lots of drunks everyweek at clark quay, boat quay but never heard of such incidents happen.

lol crowd is different. Although I dislike stereotyping, but people who are more educated tends to be more restrain in general.

Congregations of workers from subcontinental at Little India is the choice of Singaporeans.(anywhere except my place)
Looking down on blue collar jobs is also the choice of Singaporeans.
Cheap food, cheap maid, more condos, more flats are also the choice of Singaporeans.
Retire before 40 is also the choice of Singaporeans (hey.. how many retired before 40 threads do we have in this forum??)
If you retire before 40, besides replacing you, we also need more FWs to serve you.

It is nice to push all blames to the policy makers but we have to look at the mirror ourself.
Policy makers made those policies because that is what the majority wants.

To begin, with a salary that leads a nominal life, is it ok for your kids to be cleaners/construction workers/garbage collectors?

you see the video riot police bus also beat a hasty retreat still wondering why nobody comes out to arrest people?

This is just my speculation on what I know about riots. In riots like this, you do not take hasty action like firing your gun etc. You do not fight fire with fight, it can lead to dangerous situation of escalating the riot to a bigger situation . You have to remain calm and control the situation by making them disperse.

If you know Singapore, there are lots of CCTV all over the place, I am guessing a lot of these people would have been caught on these CCTV 's as well as all the amateur videos.

The action is just about to start.

Well, in this topic, I concur.

"得了便宜还卖乖“。 On one hand, having the services of maids, faster supplies of flats and private properties, and the services to clean up the tables. one the other hand, complaining their existence.

I do agree on the social issue arises, and it should be tackled, with cooperation from all levels of society. IMO, a good starting point is to clean-up your table after meal in food courts or hawker centers.

It's very easy to say majority want this and look down on blue collar jobs. Consider that government has raised living standards, home prices have gone up but pay has not changed very much. who can survive on low income?

I remember from over 20 years ago during ns when doing guard duty we always kena activated for stand-to or riot drills. One of the drills call for using loud hailer to try to disperse crowd failing which load magazine and fire warning shot in the air.

Those police cars no loud hailer? Police no carry guns or attended riot drill training?
