It is to be noted that the 4 job openings listed in Penguin's website and jobsDB.com all concern some "Special Projects". It will be interesting to find out what are these projects.
Lol all diploma holder level jobs. Could just as easily say they had many good people quit and gone off so staffing is getting to be a problem. And dun forget , these are job ADs, any boring ole project can be advertised as special project.

So long the coMpany still delaying their new engine orders, one can conclude business is still in the doldrums..

The first one "Technical Project Manager" starts with "Based in Tuas and reporting to the Senior Project Manager (Special Projects), you shall be responsible for the overall planning, coordination and execution of government shipbuilding projects..."

I wonder which government?   Smile

Some (very wild) guesses:

Maybe the Philippine government, for specialist craft for the offshore disposal of drug dealers - allowing them to tell the green lobby that their only aim was sustainable support of the shark population

or the Malaysian government, craft to allow officials to privately make transfers to their Singapore bank accounts

or Chinese Provincial governments, to allow officials to privately transfer cash for the purchase of houses in Sydney, Vancouver, etc.

or the British government, to tow England out into the Atlantic, away from Europe

or the Scottish government, to tow Scotland closer to Europe, and away from England

or the Canadian government, to patrol the Great Lakes and pick up the millions of refugees if either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton wins the election.....

With a bit of imagination, business could boom.

It could have been the Singapore Police Coast Guard.  They have been in discussion for years, hopefully something materialize.

Responding to Penguin's open invitation (as reflected in the first para of the front-page in its company website) to willing experienced marine professionals who are passionate, positive and pro-active, to join the group during the current industry downturn.....

Mr. Chan Ying Kwok - a true marine industry veteran - has recently joined Penguin as Deputy General Manager of subsidiary Penguin Shipyard International Pte Ltd....
