Entirely due to low turnover/large spreads.

On HKEx yesterday, E & E was quoted as HK$12.66 (buy) to HK$15.8 (sell), which translates to about US$1.61 to US$2.01, a huge spread. The closing price was HK$15.8, based on one small trade, up HK$2.2. Good chance that there will be a big percentage fall of this counter, on HKEx, at some point next week. The 'price' of HK$15.8 is likely just a transient blip.

On SGX the buy side was queued at US$1.63, the sell at $1.65, last done $1.65. Ignoring the froth in Hong Kong, the underlying price looks comparable.

The current price is cum dividend of 8c, so there will be a significant reset when it goes ex-dividend.

Yesterday's trades were all done @ HK 15.80, and the volume is the 2nd biggest in the last 1 year.

You are right - i missed the fact it was 100k, not 100. It will be interesting to see what happens next week, as it could still be a blip, but maybe not. I should have been more observant as I have been vested over many years and added to my holding a week ago,

Details of offer now out, and suspension lifted:

https://links.sgx.com/FileOpen/e01151ann...eID=604775

Offer is at US$2.33 per share, which is a decent uplift on the pre-suspension price of US$ 1.17. Slightly smaller premium in Hong Kong, where the price was higher.

Now 1 USD = 1.43 SGD.

Bought in 2013 @USD 2.28 per share when the exchange rate was 1 USD = 1.25 SGD.

Dividend received in :
2013 = 0.11 + 0.07 = USD 0.18
2014 = 0.07 + 0.03 = USD 0.10
2015 = USD 0.03
2016 = USD 0.03
2017 = USD 0.06
2018 = USD 0.08
2019 = USD 0.04
Total dividends received = USD 0.52

Offer price = USD 2.33 per share.

2.33 + 0.52 = 2.85
2.85 / 2.28 = 1.25
In USD : 25% return in 7 years.
In SGD : 39% return in 7 years.

Another lousy investment.

Yes, it's quite unfortunately that the stock  drop all the way from 3.60USD all the way down to 0.65USD in 2016.

From my trading record:
My entry was 0.8xUSD sometime in 2016 after the stock price bottomed.
After roughly 1 year, it doubled and I sold out at 1.58USD in April 2018.
So, no compliant.

Moving forward, there will be a few counters that's going to be taken private or go to zero.

Need to think carefully and profit from them.

39% in 7 years is quite okay. It is higher than bank deposit and CPF. And it is also a positive return.

There aren't many investments, bought 7 years ago and liquidated today, that will yield a positive return.
