I disagree that money cannot buy power. In many countries there is a clear exchange of money for power and vice versa. Businessmen use their money to buy political influence. Politicians use their power to accumulate wealth. The legal methods involve donations to election campaigns and funding lobby groups. Other methods include unmarked bags of cash, subsidized accommodations, luxury travel abroad etc. Lots of examples for anyone who bothers to look. Money can buy power but to a certain extent. Just like money can buy time but not immortality. It was rumoured when MM Lee wife got a stroke in a foreign country and MM Lee ordered an entire SIA plane to fetch his wife back for treatment. I dont think ultra rich person in Spore e.g: facebook co-founder, Jet Lee, Ng family can do that. A private plane maybe but i dont think an entire SIA plane possible. I also dont think ultra rich here can hire traffic police or anybody to smooth the traffic for them. Even Jim Rogers have to volunteer in the top primary school in order to get better chance for her daughter to get in.

I have read 2 of his (3) books:
* Master your personal finance (partially Chinese)
* What your school never taught you about money
He had some gems of wisdom in the 1st book, but the 2nd book has a lot of repetitions -- not well edited.
I like especially the article comparing investing to a soccer team.
I heard him speaking at a Popular Book Fair, but his public speaking skills sucked - sounded like a broken record and could not engage the audience well.
He was passionate about sharing (either that, or he tried to make $ out of) what he knew about personal financial management.
The lesson I learnt from his early departure: Once we are gone, we can't do anything anymore, except may be watching from a distance what goes on on earth.
Treasure your time, treasure your health, money is secondary.

He achieved what many local Guru couldn't in spreading Financial Knowledge to masses and we cannot deny that.
Neither do his limitation stop him to help spread or expand his courses.
I will be satisfied for just half his passion and ability. Repeating can be a plus in learning especially so when it is advises that helps, so i am grateful rather than annoy.

Yes! Have you also considered why the rich and "powderful" so hard to die. They take a long , long time to die. For you and me, when it's time to go, we go. Happily and peacefully i hope for most of us. And not drag on and on because of "$ & Power".

A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

Money cant buy you happiness.
but to a certain extent, you can lead a very comfortable life and be less unhappy about things.
Money cant buy you health.
but to a large extent, it can help a lot in making it a lot easier to be healthy.
In fact, money cant buy a lot of things, but we'd all be quite screwed if we don't have enough of it.

When we have a lot of money, we can buy almost any thing in this world. The "filthy rich" will even (most of them) try to buy time in this world. i had been a medical equipments technician specialised in ICU. i serviced almost all the hospital ICUs in Singapore. Even up to their (fithy rich) homes. i observed first hand how they use their money to prolong their lives. In most cases, ironically also prolong their sufferings.
i think in most cases, doctors who have confirmed terminal diseases, choose no treatment (maybe except pain relief) to go into the next world as natural as possible. i will choose the same (touch-wood) if it happens to me.
Will some doctors who are reading this, share your opinion.

This of course is the choice by the rich. Our poorer ancestors, they have a gem of wisdom. Just spend more time reading and exercising the right way, sleep more, work less... the difference is tremendous!!!

which brings to the question - why industralize the farmlands, captalize the villages into factories or sleepless cities? being a farmer in a quiet field is a nice thing to do.

On page 6 of TODAY, an ads from Wealth Directions says he is still giving talks - scary. With today's tele communication technologies, may be that's possible.

Would you prefer to be in a kampung, healthy, but no economic development? Or do you prefer to be in a 'first world city', full of connectivity? There is no right or wrong, our leaders have chosen #2.
The price of #2 is if people do not know when to rest and recharge, the stress and disease timebomb comes up...
