was the cardiopulmonary resuscitation given immediately? for such case, time is crucial. it is timely to emphasize again the knowledge/ability in CPR among fellow residents in this stressful rat-race island. heart attack is thought to be the top 2 killer here?

OMG! It's real shocking news! It's so sad, so unexpected...
He could contribute so much more to society in areas of financial literacy if God had allowed him to stay much longer on this earth.
RIP Dennis
The obituary is in today's ST, body resting at Blk 632 Veerasamy Road, cortege leaving on 29 July @12noon for Mandai Crematorium.
Hope the family is strong and can cope well after his departure.
Now the whole lot of responsibilities will fall on the wife's shoulders - looking after the family and also managing the biz. It's not going to be easy.
Incidently, one of his brothers was our former Finance Director. Just hope the family members can help out in the biz if it is still viable.

not surprising people start dying once they pass 40 or pass 50 though is still can consider "young" at this age actually pass this age all the problems starts coming out, already have a few friends around this age who have "gone" I have to keep reminding myself that we are no longer young like before in our 20's or 30's now anything can happen so don't overdo too many things whether is something physical, sports or mental.
I didn't know Dennis personally only read his forum postings I found Dennis to be intelligent and competitive but he also had a dark side that made it's appearance in afralug and wallstraits forums.
Well nobody's perfect. RIP Dennis your problems are now over

I disagree that money cannot buy power. In many countries there is a clear exchange of money for power and vice versa. Businessmen use their money to buy political influence. Politicians use their power to accumulate wealth. The legal methods involve donations to election campaigns and funding lobby groups. Other methods include unmarked bags of cash, subsidized accommodations, luxury travel abroad etc. Lots of examples for anyone who bothers to look.

RIP and condolences to family of deceased.

According to Alvin Toffler, author of Future Shock, power comes from 3 sources:
Force
Wealth
or
Knowledge
Furthermore,
Force can be used to acquire wealth.
Wealth can be used to buy knowledge.
or
Knowledge can be used to acquire wealth.
Wealth can be used to buy force.
Out of the 3, knowledge is the highest form of power. It is unlimited in scope.

regarding his idea of taking public transport and not buy car, i think it is a commendable behavior and it is actually very green to do so. come to think about it, i think all our hearts will beat more normally without crowded noisy pollutive traffic, and without that formula one night racing.
recently i saw on article on mypaper saying about multi-millionaire HK actor Chow Yun Fatt (I think he was worth about S$150million) who commutes by public transport everyday in HK. I tend to believe Dennis was in the same kind of mindset as Chow's.
