Thank you for sharing, much appreciated!
On hindsight, looking at the past share price data vs corresponding NAV, there was quite a long period of time when that condition was matched. But, I guess it's easy to miss as small caps are rarely in our radar.

In my case, I wasn't looking at NAV cos' I don't think it'd have been very meaningful. What caught my attention was the huge Cash (so, ya, NAV actually become a lot more meaningful since a large part of it was coming from this Cash) + low debts + Assets such as Properties Held-for-Sale + Reasonable Yield. Altho' the low NPM was a huge turn-off, that was enough for me to quickly decide to take a small stake. The more I dug up about the co., the more I liked it and yes, I increased my holdings accordingly.

I won't be selling anytime soon as long as the story I'd managed to spin for myself for Popular Hldgs remains intact. I also won't be losing any sleep whether it goes up or down.

In fact, if not for Old Man coming in to buy, I'd have taken my own sweet time to study and collect slowly as it was a rather illiquid stock. But, thanks to him, I'd forced myself to go into overdrive...Tongue

How interesting an exchange between one who is a full-time investor and another who owns two private properties and has a pipeline of half a million bucks annually from ownership of a businesHuh

owning and running a biz is not easy. it's hard to have hands off approach in it. that's why i am more keen to earn passive income ie dividends. that's where i started to do my own research and gather my info.

my eventual aim would be to sell off my existing businesses and live on my passive income.

i figured that there would come a time where i would need to reitre anyway.

so i decided to become a full time investor eventually....that's my similarity with the other valuebuddy

More buying yet again. At first I thought he was just making good use of some of his spare change. Now I believe there is something in the works.

He's still using his spare change....

Before he started his buying on 30-Mar-12, total holdings = 460,899,075 (I ignore the 3 lots he sold on 9-Feb-12 as it doesn't affect the Dividend calculations)

If we were to just use the last 2 Dividends = 0.5ct (Oct11) + 0.6ct (Apr11) = 1.1ct,
Total Dividends received over the past year = 460,899,075 * 1.1ct = $5,069,890

From 30-Mar-12 to 31-Jul-12, Total Purchases = 17,975,000 Shares
or Amount = $3,477,307 (Exclude transaction costs)

So, $5,069,890 vs $3,477,307, still have ~$1.5Mil spare change left ie. can still easily buy more than 6Mil more shares at current prices.

Here, I'm assuming he'd not withdrawn his dividends for other purposes.

But, yes, he could have other intentions...Undecided

PS. The coming 0.8ct will give him another $3.83Mil to add to his war chest if he doesn't make known his other intentions (if any) by the Div Payout date. Cool

I see your point. But what strikes me is the rate at which he is buying. Before the run up to current prices -- a big part of which is due to his buying -- he could just let the market sell down to his price to accumulate slowly. But no, he kept buying up.

Why is he in such a rush to buy? Or why is he pushing up the price? In any case, should be good.

I imagine the buying is done by his broker. He may have just given instructions like the max price or the budget and left it to his broker to decide how he wants to go about executing it...

But yes, compared to his last bout of buying from 17-Mar-08 to 26-May-08 (3,299,000 ; $912,428 ; Range $0.25464 to $0.295), the intensity and the urgency seems a lot more....
