Noticed that Food Republic is turning to be like any other regular food courts.
With Breadtalk running their own 'OEM' food stalls. So Why should FP be commanding
premium pricing?

Food Republic Premium Foodcourt?

The premium is only on the stalls "brand". A lot hire foreign worker. I tried the beef noodle at vivo. Fail miserably.

Saw a lady order chap cai rice... > $10 !!! blur

Last time when they first came out. Now do their
own stalls with what seems like 'old time' brands.

That's why I say. FR and BT going downhill.

2 years on, the balance sheet of Breadtalk remains as highly geared.

Before expanding "the food atrium business", Food republic at Ion, causeway point and Vivo were successful because they were the only air conditioned food court serving office workers at their respective vicinity. Imo, the opening of new food republic outlets at Man U life, Wisma, Shaw do not offer value unique proposition as there are already existing food courts there. Breadtalk is indeed dominating the orchard stretch by having 4 food republic food courts instead of 1, but in the process, the newly opened ones are cannabilising on Ion's sales

As for food republic at Causeway point, an indirect threat is emerging as NEA will be building a multi use food centre at Woodlands Street 12 (est completion 2017). It is about 800 metre away from Causeway point. This may mean further fall in traffic as approximately 1/3 of woodlands/marsiling residents will be served by the new NEA food centre.

Interesting happenings at the AGM:
One of the resolution - Authority to issue shares under the BreadTalk Group Limited Restricted Share Grant Plan - was not passed.
Even the vote to re-elect Dr George Quek Meng Tong as a director was challenged, garnering only 7X% (if I recall correctly) vote.

Hopefully, this wakes up the board/management that shareholders are not happy.

Minor Group also appointed a director to BreadTalk Board.
To keep watch on the management?

Maybe the Paradice Investment Management people voted against those resolutions?

Shareholders not so friendly during QnA too. I guess people are really unhappy.

There's Only One Three-Star Restaurant in Singapore's Debut Michelin Guide
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2...elin-guide

At recent, Mano questioned the directors on the credentials to be on the Board. One of the ID, Ong Kian Min said he owned 2 restaurants.
Both of his Shinji got one-star Michelin. FYI only. Not that I like him.

BTW Michelin star is outlet specific one. So cannot said the whole chain is Michelin-star. Like what DTF did. Somemore the former one-star restuarant was in HK, different franchisee,
