Happened that yesterday i was looking at Xiaomi power bank selling at $14 online, checking the product review someone dismantle the power bank and check the parts cost one by one. It is selling 69 yuan in China.
"每颗三星或者LG的电芯需要10-12元,一共四颗就是40-48元;铝合金氧化外壳的有5-6元;在加上那个带有德州仪器的电路板有10元左右,林林总总成本就有60多元。这个只是硬件成本,工人工资,人员工资,幸亏小米收运费,要不更亏。"
Don't forget there are still china brand with good design selling online and selling at loss. Luckily they are selling by batch and small quantity like 5000. Probably because every sales they make causing them lose more money.
Edit: Oh ya, with good capacity like 10400mAh.

Valore is named value. They sells reliable accessories at a value for money price. Maybe after this turns into a success, they will roll out a premium product or buy over some premium local brand and distribute it? Challenger got no debt and lots of money right. Time to make use of those cash to invest on some positive npv projects lol

Yes sir, this is just 1 of the paths to take, expecting brands under challengers coming up.. Lexus/Vertus?
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

From a comsumer pov, and as a guy, i will definetely not buy anything from valore..
1 look and know the items are low quality. Nowadays people very smart. Want to buy something? See the brand, see the model. Go home do a google search for reviews. ( at least thats for me )
And valore too many pattern liao... And they make use of every single dpace to place their item. Like pasar malam stuffs.
Compare that with apple products? 1 big table, sleek looking and clean. Only 4-6 products on it. People see also happy and have a atas feel.
I always walk pass valore stores. And trust me. The items are just "put there, hopefully someone will pick it up" concept.
For challenger store at least they do try to sales talk u into products. Brands like lenovo, logictech, kiplsh ear piece.
What do u want to hear for valore product?
Just my opinion as a consumer.

Why set up standalone Valore stores when Challenger stores are already selling the Valore products?

This is a different strategy which allows Apple to have a better brand image but at whose loss? Apple re-sellers like Epicentre. They have no control over unit price and I am sure there are agreements relating to store layout which restrict ways to generate revenue per sqft.

I got a feeling that all local retailers are being downgraded. Is it just a coincidence?

Mr market is here to serve you but not to guide you.
For those who thinks challenger is undervalued this presents an opportunity
