Oxley Holdings will be launching this new project at the corner of Balestier Road and Tessensohn Road soon, mid next month February in fact.  This 1953 Tessensohn mixed development is not a very big one, but it is on freehold land, and within 6 minutes walk from Farrer Park MRT station on the North-East line.  It will comprise just 58 units of residential apartments ranging from one to 5 bedroom units, together with 14 shops at the ground level.  Within this development, we have 7 old conservation shophouses that were built way back in 1953, even before independence.

The units in the old shophouses will form the Heritage Collection part of the project.  Based on the perspectives released, this part will be beautifully renovated, with lots of character.  If you have always wanted a conservation unit with freehold tenure in a good location, the 1953 Tessensohn condo is a good place to start.  The modern section blends in extremely well, a modern take on the Art Deco style of the old part.  The units here form the Modern Collection, with the top floor units labelled the Penthouse Collection.

The 1953 showflat is almost ready and scheduled for opening on 16 February, after Chinese New Year.  It's certainly looking good!  It will showcase a one + study from the Modern Collection, and a 3 bedroom unit from the Heritage Collection.  Which means you actually can get to buy a piece of history.

Must say, the rooms are much more spacious that for most new condo developments.  That could be partly because the ceiling height for the 1953 condo is higher than usual, ranging from 3.25m to as high as 7.28m for the top floors of the conserved parts.  But even then, the one + study here has one of the best layouts around, with a really spacious study you can turn into a common bedroom actually, provided you don't mind that there is no window for it.
