If all goes according to plan, the perpetual securities will be traded on sgx from 30 May 2016.

DESPITE having revenue more than double, a surge in raw materials and subcontractors' cost, and higher amortisation costs weighed down results for Hyflux for its second quarter.

Net profit plummeted 90 per cent to S$2.6 million from the previous year, the group said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Thursday evening.

For the three months ended June 30, revenue rocketed 174.3 per cent to S$260.0 million from the previous year. The rise in revenue was due mainly to contribution by the TuasOne waste-to-energy project and Qurayyat Independent Water Project in the Sultanate of Oman, it added.

The group recorded a loss of 1.58 Singapore cents in the quarter, compared with an earnings per share of 1.68 cents a year ago.

Dividend per share sank to 0.2 Singapore cent from 0.7 Singapore cent in the year-ago period.

Hyflux shares closed at 56 Singapore cents on Thursday before results announcement.

May I know why the Hyflux 6% CPS drop so much this week? This should be safer than the new perpetual share, right? Most likely they will redeem it in 2018 or they need to pay higher interest - 8%. Anybody can advise? Thanks

Got a query from SGX liao. Let's see what they say.

Separately for those who knows about code of takeovers. Can an issuer delist their perps/bonds that is listed without going through a redemption. Say for example if it is trading at $0.90 of a nominal $1.00 Perps/bonds, can issuer delist it by offering at $0.95 for example. If yes, would the code of takeovers apply the same.

Let me try.

I reckon, "other" classes of capital in a takeover deal, is governed by Chapter 18 of the code i.e. "COMPARABLE OFFERS FOR DIFFERENT CLASSES OF CAPITAL"

In short, it can but need the Council consultation. Typically, there are offer for bond/CB/Perps, and taken as condition(s) for the equity GO. I am not sure about the acceptance level? I guess it is not fixed, but a result of the consultation. Comparable offer is the key word for the Council decision.

It is actually loss-making if accounted for the 'dividends'

Yup, the perpetuals are now in loss making territory. It is different from what happened few months back when they were selling for above Par value. Is something happening within Hyflux to cause such preference shares to fall below par value?
