Semper Augustus Investments Group: 2015 Annual Letter: http://www.semperaugustus.com/2016BRK.aspx

A detailed breakdown of valuation and opinion on their largest position, Berkshire Hathaway.

What was more interesting (to me) was the 1st part of the commentary in which they talked about the 'break down in breadth' of the general market - This isn't the first time I heard of this 'breakdown in breadth' where the index is skewed by it's largest contributors, and God knows what secondary effects will it evolve into.

EVERY major stock market decline since 1929 was preceded by a breakdown in breadth leading up to each market peak. -->Interesting observation although not every breakdown in breadth will lead to a major stock market decline though..

Berkshire Builds Airline, Apple Bets; Adds Monsanto Holding

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. sharply increased bets on airlines and iPhone maker Apple Inc. in the fourth quarter, while taking a stake in seed company Monsanto Co.

Berkshire’s investments in American Airlines Group Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc. and United Continental Holdings Inc. climbed to more than $2 billion each, according to a regulatory filing on Tuesday from Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based company. It also disclosed a stake in Southwest Airlines Co. valued at about $2.2 billion as of Dec. 31.

Taken together, the holdings represent one of the largest common stock investments for Buffett’s company in years. Berkshire first disclosed that it had invested in airlines in November, which came as a surprise to some, because the billionaire previously criticized the business.

Here's what to expect in Warren Buffett's annual letter to shareholders

Warren Buffett, widely considered one of the world's best investors, is likely to tout the merits of passive investing this weekend to readers of his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shareholders.

The letter, slated for release around 8 a.m. EST on Saturday, will probably focus on familiar themes for the 86-year-old Buffett, with many single-spaced pages reviewing Berkshire's businesses and managers, Wall Street, the economy and perhaps even politics.

"The letters are written as much for sophisticated financial people as for people in high school," said Andy Kilpatrick, author of "Of Permanent Value: The Story of Warren Buffett." "It's a fun read, and when you get through it, you think, 'Wow, I could be doing better with my life and my investing.'"

Quote:Human behavior won’t change. Wealthy individuals, pension funds, endowments and the like will continue to feel they deserve something “extra” in investment advice. Those advisors who cleverly play to this expectation will get very rich. This year the magic potion may be hedge funds, next year something else. The likely result from this parade of promises is predicted in an adage: “When a person with money meets a person with experience, the one with experience ends up with the money and the one with money leaves with experience.”

Warren Buffett just published his annual letter to shareholders.

At over $250,000 an A-Share, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is probably out of reach for most people. But this document is still stuffed with insights into the craft of value investing, as well as providing a top-down view on the state of America from the man who's made an art of bottom-up analysis.

Follow along as we annotate this year's letter below.

With contributions by Katherine Chiglinsky and Noah Buhayar
