Not that I agree with most of Trump words. But from the opposition he gets from it, he truly represents the change of America can happen.
He is a lifeline for millions of low income low educated americans whites and even blacks/asians. Who won't be able to take advantage of better and efficient economy. This people basically needs lower level factory mfg job.

From his selected and appointed ministers so far, it seems to me that you are hoping the foxes to save the chicken.
Hopefully the foxes may change their nature, but naturally I won't hold my breath.

When we manage a country, we find ways where every key segment of the population is taken care of. Not just the rich, hark working, educated, elite, smart or connected. In the context of Efficiency, Environmental or Global Economy,  America has a large MINORITY segment which were ignored which will never by in the middle class in Super Power America. The purpose of Country is for everyone in that country as Citizen to have good life.  Right now is not. The problem is not about Rich/Poor divide but there are really Poor segment in America which is a minority in the elected process but constitutes a large mass. They were ignored.

This is similar to Singapore middle class who got retrenched or miss the career/education boat. They were left out of Singapore economy progress over the years. Assume there are 5% of them. They are a minority, they may perform lesser, they maybe less educated, but that doesn't mean we can write them off on achieving middle class living. The whole country needs to be uplifted. A high basic safety net maybe needed. GDP is only meaningful after that and not before.

I am skeptical considering that the presidents first priorities is to sign orders to restrict immigration and build wall. Imo not economic driven agendas.

The upside might be that trump may become an ineffective president that doesn't make a splash on economic matters, just a lot of controversy generated. I'm not even sure if he can survive 4 years in the white house when his team cannot make consistent positions.

I think we are falling into the same spiral of prior presidents and missing the big picture. The issue is not about Efficiency, Better Economic, Better Earning etc. because there is a huge segment in Americans are not benefiting from it. Don't be blinded by Statistics. Is skewed towards the East and west coast states.
Is better for economics to go lower if he can achieve better living conditions for the middle states.

I reckon it might be similar as "Duterte drug war". Good but easily abused. A radical turn of a ship as big as USA needs extraordinary time and skill without any major hiccup.

Muhammad Ali Jr helps punch back on Trump immigration order
10 Mar 2017 07:00
[WASHINGTON] The son of the late boxing icon Muhammad Ali, who claims he was detained by US officals last month because he is Muslim, joined Democrats Thursday in their fight against President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

"I felt that my human rights were just abused," Muhammad Ali Jr told House Democrats at a forum in the US Capitol.

The "confrontation" between pro- and anti-Trump groups in the "ill-controlled" cyberspace might lead to a real war if not managed properly. There is no "off-switch" for Internet.

Starbucks CEO's refugee comments sour customer views of chain: survey
10 Mar 2017 09:30
[LOS ANGELES] Starbucks Corp's vow to hire thousands of refugees after President Donald Trump's first executive order that temporarily banned travel from seven mostly-Muslim nations appears to be hurting customer sentiment of the coffee chain.

Mr Trump supporters have used Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to call for a boycott since Jan 29, when Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz vowed to hire 10,000 refugees over five years in the countries where it does business.

Starbuck CEO is a business man, to me it sounds like they are planning on tapping the potential dirt cheap refugee labour for his coffee shops using Trump policy as an excuse Big Grin

California lawmakers warn companies against working on Trump wall
22 Mar 2017 08:18
[LOS ANGELES] Three California lawmakers have introduced legislation that would penalise firms keen to take part in President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall along the US-Mexico border. The legislation announced on Monday calls for California's two public pension funds - the largest in the nation - to divest from companies involved in the construction of the controversial barrier."Californians build bridges not walls," Phil Ting, one of the three Democratic lawmakers, said in a statement."This is a wall of shame and we don't want any part of it. Immigrant stories are the history of America, and this is a nightmare."

This bot watches Donald Trump's tweets and waits for him to mention any publicly traded companies. When he does, it uses sentiment analysis to determine whether his opinions are positive or negative toward those companies. The bot then automatically executes trades on the relevant stocks according to the expected market reaction. It also tweets out a summary of its findings in real time at @Trump2Cash.

Review of the bot...

"Overall, the algorithm seems to succeed more often than not: The simulated fund has an annualized return of about 59% since inception. There are limits to the simulation and the underlying data, so take it all with a grain of salt."

Interesting post. Gains from leveraging on information asymmetry is short-lived, with today connecting technologies, IMHO.

Value investing still the best in sustainability and scalability. What do you think?
