23.7% return (including dividend) for the first half of this year, largely attributed to the amazing performance of Best World International Limited (BWL). If I have excluded the gain from BWL, return would be approximately 6%.
As of 30 June 2016, top 5 holdings in my portfolio in terms of capital outlay are
Parkway Life Reit
Starhill Global Reit
Straco Corportation Limited
Best World International Limited
Singapore Technologies Engineering Limited
2H performance will continue to be boosted by BWL, while the rest of the counters should produce stable performance.

Jan Quin,
Nice portfolio.
Just curious, why did you sell some BWL?
1. Are you also subscribing to "zero cost/capital" strategy?
2. Recently, like you, I had ventured into bluechips that's low price, PE and PTB.
This is very different from those penny stocks that I used to buy.
Do you think this make sense or still go for penny stocks?
Thank you.

Hi chialc88,
I guess I succumbed to my emotion as it was an impulsive decision. My logical mind tells me that BWL is on the right track but the price rose a bit too fast for me. Sub-consciously, I might be hoping that 2016 results isn't as spectacular as some of the recent buyers have hoped for and then the price would drop for me to buy some back later. Haha, "gambling" mindset at play. In any case, I believe this is the problem of checking share price too often which I must learn to overcome.
Nope, I don't subscribe to "zero cost/capital" strategy. I pro-rate the cost based on my holding, so my average cost per share remains the same even after I sold some BWL. In another word, if originally I bought 10000 shares at $x and decided to sell 5000 shares at $y. My profit is $(y-0.5x) and my remaining 5000 shares will cost 0.5x and not zero.
After my review last year, I decided to have a bit more stocks that give dividend regularly. Hence more mid and blue chip stocks. By penny stock, you meant market cap lower than 100 mil? I won't totally discard them as it is always fulfilling to spot the GEMs among them. BWL was a penny stock not that long ago. However, they would take up less % in my portfolio.

@BWL - impulse? shows that you're still young.
@Zero - I did subscribe to this theory for Asia-Sons (now called Aunty Lan).
http://valuebuddies.com/thread-3895-page-4.html
Now, I'm stuck with 50% unsold Aunty Lan shares at zero cost/capital.
What's the point?
Like cf and wei jian says:
should review based on current fundamentals, and opportunity cost
to decide on buy-more or sell-partially.
I also like dividend stocks but this is never a criteria to buy.
It's just nice to have (except if I'm using CPF, then more careful).
Wish you luck and for some reason, I really like your portfolio.

haha, not that young, on eldershield liao.
Yupz, I also subscribe to what cf and wei jian say for selling decision. At the same time, I also believe in listening to your feeling when making a decision.
Thank you for liking my portfolio. Good luck to all valuebuddies!

Edit Reason: take my cue... look at straco carefully
)
Sold 75% of BWL?
I think different people different stroke.
I think even same person will think differently at different time (like yesterday think like this, now think otherwise).
I think that even same person at the same time can think but act differently (you heard people says that planning is easy but execution is difficult).
I think that even same person at the same time think, act the same but final trigger still can be different.
You know what I mean, like now stock market is open,
I am thinking of buying a share.
I logged on to my favourite trading platform.
I key in buy.
The amount/quantity of shares that key in will be very different from what I am thinking to buy.
Because when we are pulling the trigger, somehow, somewhat a very strong emotion will chip in and change our plan.
So, how to prevent that?
I told myself - for Bestworld, I need to sell like Sh** fullstop.
So, when I execute the sell order, I just sell like Sh**.
I simply get rid of it as fast as I could.
So, the question is why did I tell myself to sell like Sh**?
Very simple.
I falled in love with bwl.
My emotion will come in and clutter my decision to sell.
It will change my plan especially at trigger point.
So, a simple way for me to sleep in peace is to tell myself to sell it like Sh**.
Which I of course regretted it. (regretted my decision to sell like Sh**).
However, I'm very sure, when I'm older and I looked back to this week events,
I should be ok as this would not the only time I make decision to sell those stocks that I deeply fall in love.
I decided not to post in bwl as I'm no longer vested and of course my emotion is still highly charged up (as I regretted my decision to sell).
In any case, I will cool down a little bit and continue to post over the weekend.
Something simple that I'm not sure why vb did not see about bwl.
meanwhile, enjoy:
I'm sorry if it's all too much
Every day you're here, I'm healing
And I was runnin' out of luck
I never thought I'd find this feeling
'Cause I've been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
And every melody is timeless
And now your song is on repeat
And I'm dancin' on to your heartbeat
And when you're gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth
I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?

Yup. 75%. Want to keep some so as to see how things work out eventually. No right or wrong. Who knows I might sell the rest by next week or keep them for another decade.
