I just watch for free. Anything that is free excites me and the quality is good.

Base on informal survey on engineers, most if not all, are watching sport program via Internet, especially those from China. None seems subscribe to pay-TV for sport program.
That the reason I skipped Starhub, even I had full confidence on Mr. Neil Montefiore's business sense...

Markets brush off SingTel’s cross-carriage BPL outcome
SINGAPORE — Investors have brushed off SingTel’s concerns that losing the cross-carriage appeal for the Barclays Premier League (BPL) coverage could affect its ability to sell other mio TV content to subscribers, lending their support to the red team in a relatively weak day of trading.
Shares in SingTel fell as low as S$3.89 in early trading before gaining traction to finish 0.51 per cent higher at S$3.95, outperforming the benchmark Straits Times Index, which added just 0.03 per cent.
StarHub closed down 0.47 per cent at S$4.26.

SingTel, Visa tie up in mobile payment alliance
SINGAPORE — SingTel and Visa today (Aug 1) announced an alliance that will enable consumers in Singapore and Australia to pay for goods and services using their smartphones at all Visa payWave acceptance points.
Visa is working to link its prepaid accounts with SingTel’s mobile money solution mCash, which will launch early next year. The service allows mCash customers to wave and pay with their NFC-enabled smartphones for such purchases like groceries and movie tickets where Visa payWave is accepted.

Telcos move to claw back business lost to free apps
SINGAPORE — Telcos are taking the first step towards clawing back business that has been lost to the numerous free text messaging applications that have cropped up in recent years, with SingTel the first to collaborate with one of the biggest of such providers, WhatsApp.
With traditional telco revenue falling, the move is also aimed at getting subscribers accustomed to paying for data, in a shift from the free-for-all, data buffet of the recent past, analysts said.
SingTel yesterday launched three types of WhatsApp plans for pre-paid mobile customers, with rival StarHub saying it will soon follow with similar plans.

IMO, without the Myanmar's telecom venture, there is lesser motivation to sell the Optus satellite... Will the proposal just fall through...?
SingTel gets 2 bids for Optus satellite business
HONG KONG — Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has received two offers for its Australian satellite business in the final round of the bidding, including one from United States-listed Intelsat, three sources with knowledge of the matter said.
Both offers came in below the A$2 billion (S$2.3 billion) reserve price set for the auction and SingTel will decide at a board meeting next week whether to divest the business through an initial public offering (IPO) or ask suitors to improve their bids, the sources said.

The Optus Satellite business that singtel is trying to sell for AUD 2 billion is a subset of Optus business... Singtel paid 14billion AUD to buy out entire optus (which includes this satellite business)....

have to remember that this transaction was done at the time when the AUD cheaper than SGD too...
