The better specialists are always in private practice, no question about that.
Some have even given up seeing patients altogether and work for a large pharma co., better paying in some cases and less hours.
Depending on the hospital, some B2/C wards are just too warm with direct sunlight to be comfortable. Add that to the fact that you are staying in an open concept with many other patients. Can be quite chaotic and noisy. Even as a private patient(B1 and up) in public hospitals your appointment will be followed up by any doctor within the department unless you specify. Generally I think it depends on the severity of the condition, if severe(touch wood) go for the best(I have not heard of a top doctor that dont charge top dollar in sg), otherwise most specialists(consultant/senior consultant) will be adequate.

While we are investing hard for our money, we must also invest in our health. Be more active, spend time to excercise, go for a less stressful job, opt for shorter working hours, opt for a office with cheerful and positive people and environment.

可遇不可求
Even if a person is the owner of the company, it is highly unlikely that one can surround oneself with all cheerful and positive people and environment.
Most will try to outdo and step on each other to get to the top and almost all will bear some unhappiness with the job/boss/etc
We will have to work with unreasonable people and people we do not like at some point, the key here is to manage it.

I have been in the corporate world long time. The politics can be real ugly. Sometimes I feel why human can go down being so derogatory and scheming devil instead of working for the well being of the groups. For some reason the most offenders are on the ladies management side. Men do hold some but not as deep or many. Maybe is just unique to my company. Apologise if I offend ladies reader here. I do hold a few of the ladies with high regard who refuse to participate in such "Evils" but were troubled by it too.
How i tackle them is quite easy now. Basically I ignore them and focus on my own work. Improving my contribution and value to the organization. Is a matter of time people will notice and truth will prevail. If I failed, I will be ready.

of course there's politics at the office, everybody is covert to be the top man or woman but office politics usually produces nothing.
From what I seen no amount of office politics can cause somebody to fall usually what causes someone to fall is by their own doing
That's what happen to my ex-boss, already risen to very high position had a good comfortable life but just wanted more, took a big gamble on his own to try score point but turn out to be a bust and fell like a rock.
in so many years all the ugly politics couldn't get rid of him and in the end he did it to himself.

I guess the way is to quickly build up enough savings and move to a less stressful job, or to a job where you will be more happy... That is my thinking, hope can achieve it soon...

Not sure what he did. Unless your ex-boss is doing something unethical and low .... , this maybe just career aspirations which is not really politics.

People are hired for a reason. To add value, profit to the company.
Unless it is a small and personal relationship you are having with your company, otherwise dont get sucked into it.
Companies will hire and fire according to circumstances. It does not even matter if a person is a top performer, if the company is shifting HQ, or closing the department, off he/she goes. Employees are very much powerless.
But having said that Singapore is actually one lucky place to be in at this point if seeking employment. Small company bosses usually work a few times harder and longer than an employee. Rest days, off days, medical leave and sleep is a luxury. Holidays do not exist. Know too many of them. Unless off course the company has grown to a decent size where work can be more evenly delegated.
