SINGAPORE: The Government is committed to providing a range of public housing options so there is "a home for every budget and need", said the Ministry of National Development.
The living environment will also be improved: Older estates will undergo makeovers, while more homes will be closer to green spaces, with 90 per cent of households located within 400 metres of a park or park connector by 2030.
“Home ownership remains our key social pillar," said Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development, in the addendum to President Tony Tan Keng Yam's opening address to Parliament. Upcoming executive condo include The Visionaire EC , Wandervale EC and Parc Life EC while existing ones include The Terrace EC, Brownstone EC , Waterwoods EC, Signature at Yishun, Skypark Residences, The Criterion EC, Bellewaters EC, Bellewoods EC.
"We will ensure that our housing policies continue to help young couples start a family, uplift the lower-income and vulnerable to a better future, and enable our elderly to age gracefully. We remain committed to help Singaporeans own their homes and keep housing affordable for future generations."
A slew of programmes to make housing more affordable to vulnerable groups will be enhanced, said Mr Wong.
Following the roll-out of the Fresh Start Housing Scheme - meant to help second-timer public rental families own a home - MND will work closely with social agencies to support these families in a holistic manner. This could include helping them find a job and keeping their children in school. Meanwhile, more public rental flats will be built and integrated within larger HDB estates.
"We will also look into ways to support other vulnerable groups, including divorcees and low-income singles," said Mr Wong, adding that there has been strong demand for new flats from singles since they were made available to this group in 2013.
To help older homeowners live in safer environments, new smart-enabled homes will allow residents to Smart Elderly Monitoring and Alert System in their homes, he said. MND will also build on schemes such as the Lease Buyback Scheme and 2-Room Flexi Scheme to ensure affordability for seniors.
Older estates will be revitalised through the Remaking Our Heartland programme, Neighbourhood Renewal Programme, Home Improvement Programme and Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme, said Mr Wong.
Nine in ten households will be located within 400m of a park or park connector by 2030, to make greenery more accessible to Singaporeans, he said, while the network of green corridors will grow from 300km to 400km. "We will activate green spaces and intensify greenery horizontally and vertically, and work with passionate Singaporeans to conserve our biodiversity and celebrate our built heritage."

In the Ministry for the Environment and Water Resources' addendum to the President's address, Mr Masagos Zulkifli reiterated the importance of creating "an even cleaner and healthier environment" by tightening vehiclular and industrial emission standards.
He also reiterated the aim of becoming a Zero Waste Nation, using innovative solutions while also encouraging Singaporeans to reuse, reduce and recycle more.
The ABC Waters Programme will be expanded to transform more waterways into recreational, social and community spaces, said Mr Masagos. Singaporeans will be actively engaged in the process. Meanwhile, the Water Master Plan will be reviewed to ensure a reliable, sustainable water supply for future generations.
"Just as our forefathers have left us this City in the Garden, we must leave our children with a greener and cleaner home," he said.
