After the spate of announcements, Q&M nearly broke $1 from ~80c. At $1, its' PE would have been 80x. Thankfully it has fallen to more sensible levels at ~88c.

Can't deny that the CEO is a great dealmaker, justifying the growth, but at what point does a 40-50x PE multiple become unjustified?

I dont really see growth in earnings PER SHARE but these analysts, brokerage houses are obviously focusing on the growth in absolute numbers only

I think good dentists are not identified by premium charges. In fact, my neighbouring doc was saying that the dentists of these big groups have sales targets to hit, so they have to find ways and means to "extract" revenues the moment you lie down on the treatment chair to yourself stepping out of the treatment room. Not sure if anyone can verify. Confused

Personally, i prefer my regular dentist (non-q&m). Not cos of price, but more because he is honest enough to tell me "need to do" and "no need waste money". Personal views.
The thing I am scared most is not nightmares or market crashes..... Its my greed that I fear the most.

When people ask what is my target price, I never have any good answer for it because Philip Fisher said before (in Common Stock Uncommon Profit) that the best time to sell is never. Equity investment is buying into ownership, not betting slips.

The path to greatness and wealth is necessarily dangerous.... because greed is a fearsome fore that threatens your success at every step.

SGX really running dry of poster boys... IMO Q&M smells a rat and its growth model is no different to those "assured acquisition" model of for eg Msian timber companies in the mid 90s... Valuation is too high for me notwithstanding the growth profile... One simply have to look at how price retraced after insiders were allowed to dilute their stakes with an approved shortened moratorium period recently...

It's a rejection that has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Dr Ng Chin Siau's application to medical school more than two decades ago was rejected, and the aspiring doctor settled for a place in the National University of Singapore's Faculty of Dentistry instead.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1992, the founder and group CEO of Q & M Dental Group now manages 76 dental clinics and three dental hospitals across Asia.

"My first choice was to study medicine but I got rejected, so my dentistry professor took me in. I am very lucky to be where I am right now," Dr Ng recalled.

Ratio of dentist in SG and this region is extremely favourable as well.

Buying this company is the few ways you can invest in the "dental industry" if you believe in it.

It can be... I'm just holding on some small position now in case it's a multi-bagger. Took profits back in May.

Maybe he trying to emphasize that these days aplenty foreign doctors while local students in the past can't even get into the medicine courses.

A lot of drama. I guess it is a case of over expanding in foreign lands?
