Someone with such high net worth in diversified assets would not be asking advice here, other than for some trolling fun.

Nowadays millions is nothing ... a large percentage of Singapore's population have a net worth of millions . If you own a Condo, that by itself could already be worth up to a few millions. If you have a good year as a top producing real estate agent , you could make up to half a million dollars ... a few years doing that, combined with spouse plus investing in stock markets / hedge funds / some luck, its not hard to see why a normal couple in Singapore cant achieve a net worth of 15-20 million. If you are a very successful fund manager or businessman, you can be worth even more ! You heard of Peter Lim, the self-made investor from Singapore who bought Valencia ..

im sure you didn't mean to offend, but this sentence sounds like its only framed around the last 2-3 years of crazy bull run. You really sold me and my wife a dream. If i may suggest, perhaps you can read some financial history books too?

A person with net worth of US$15-20 million, is an accredited investor. He/She should be able to get credible advice from private bankers. It is rather strange for similar request here in VB. I reckon he/she is likely seeking alternative views.

Anyway, I will give the benefit of doubt. No moderation required here.

Convert that sentence into a math equation, I think it can't be done. Unless the base capital is a big number. Saying is sometimes very easy

Hmm ... I am asking here because i have little experience in investments. My eventual goal is to own a successful investment firm ... why is there much hostility here ? And as i mentioned, a large portion of Singapore's population have net worth of millions ... its nothing special in 2015. You yourself might already be worth millions even if you dont know it ...

He did mention that it's mostly his parents wealth that he's trying to manage, and 25-30mil isn't unbelievable. Neither has there been any attempt to sell anything so far either so let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

Somehow something in his post just don't sound right to me, like it's surreal, out of a dream, maybe he is daydreaming? Why would someone with so much wealth seek advice here? He could easily employ someone to manage it for him. Even if he were to DIY with $100K and lose the entire amount, he would not feel much pain. If I were him, I would be lying somewhere on a beach reading my favourite book all day, why bother to try to make a few bucks punting the stock market? Does it really matter when you already have so much in your bank account? And that lofty goal of buying an island for himself? Hmm... Confused
