The crown jewel of New Toyo - Tien Wah - has announced an very impressive set of results, with great improvement in profit margin from higher operational efficiency.
Tien wah has hit an ALL TIME HIGH this morning http://www.bursamalaysia.com/market/list...ts/1282461

When New Toyo "special dividend" was discussed and highly anticipated, i was involved with EliteKSB then. I have no interest on New Toyo, but somehow a buddy highlighted it on EliteKSB thread, which had leaded me here. There are also few asset plays for me. Normally i will only put the money in for those value will likely be realized within a year. Wish you all the best for your "plays"

I can smell the special dividend coming...The case seems too compelling when New Toyo has so much idle cash lying around, literally doing nothing...
Printing cigarette boxes and cartons is akin to printing money....just imagine the next big frontier in developing countries in EEMEA... 307 lots done for Tien Wah. Considering the fact that it has only less than 100mil shares, it was huge volume.
8.14% up today - $2.58 RM or more than SD$1.

In early days New Toyo, Tien Wah and Amor competed for cigarette box printing jobs. Amcor in turn had a stake in Tien Wah then.
In 2005, New Toyo gained a foothold in Tien Wah after buying the founder's stake. Two years later, Amcor sold out too resulting in New Toyo gaining control of Tien Wah. In 2008, Tien Wah bought over BAT's printing firm in Australia and became the exclusive printer supporting BAT's factories in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia for seven years. Tien Wah invested in capacity and improved work processes, and has since been reporting improving profits. Tien Wah's financial position is very strong now as good cashflow has pared down the high borrowings taken to finance the purchase of the Australian printing firm. As at 31 Mar 2013, bank loans and cash stood at RM94m and RM39m respectively. With 1Q Ebitda of RM20m, it is a matter of time before Tien Wah becomes cash-rich. Having built up the skills for complex printing jobs required by BAT and with its low cost structure, Tien Wah may be in a good position to continue serving BAT after the expiry of the exclusive contract in late 2015. New Toyo management should be given the due credit for taking Tien Wah under its wing and building it up to become a significant regional player.

Just look at Kodak - it has faded into non-existence . why - its products are no longer required...
With the onset of MORE plain packaging around the world, will tobacco printing/packaging companies face the same fate? |
