*BODHISATTVAS ARE ALWAYS TRUE TO SENTIENT BEINGS*

Why are Bodhisattvas so happy in heaven? They go, “You are thinking of helping beings? I want to help them too”.
“So, you shower them with kindness, I also want to do that”.

Think about it, in such scenarios, will there ever be any worries on Their part?

But, what about you, here? You even suspect those who are kind to you - “Why is he being kind to me?” People are just too cunning.

Unlike us, Bodhisattvas are always true to sentient beings. Amitabha Buddha and Shakyamuni Buddha share the same heart, thoughts and deeds which explains their blissful state of being.

*YOUR PRAYERS WILL BE ANSWERED IF YOU’RE KIND AND COMPASSIONATE*

Master Jun Hong Lu: Guan Yin Bodhisattva treats all beings equally. But, why do some of us manage to have our prayers answered, while others not? Your prayers will be answered if you are kind and compassionate.

If your prayers to the Bodhisattva go unanswered today, it goes to show that you have yet to establish a single-minded connection with the Bodhisattva; your heart is not united with the Buddha and you have yet to touch Her heart; our minds are highly deluded and that goes for a hundred, two hundred and thousands of us.

*OVERCOMING DOUBTS IN UNFAMILIAR PEOPLE OR NON-BUDDHISTS*

Caller: Some Buddhist practitioners fully trust our fellow practitioners without any doubt and feel at ease to be with them. However, they will always have a suspicious mind when dealing with people whom they are not familiar with or with non-Buddhists. May I ask, what is the reason behind this?

Master Jun Hong Lu: This stems from a discriminatory mind ─ a lack of Bodhisattva’s magnanimity and without tolerance for differences. As humans, we have to be magnanimous and tolerant.

Caller: Yes. How should we overcome this problem?

Master Jun Hong Lu: How to overcome it? You will be able to overcome it with an elevated state of mind, otherwise you will never succeed because it is human nature to be jealous, sceptical and to distrust others.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Buddhism teaches us that we must maintain peace and serenity within our minds. As seen from the Buddhist saying, ‘cultivate your mind and wisdom with calmness’, a tranquil person will surely be wise. Take a look around – you will find many leaders and officers who always appear calm and they are the wise ones.

*ALWAYS TREAT PEOPLE WITH COMPASSION*

Caller: A fellow Buddhist practitioner had a notion in his dream that he should tell another Buddhist friend not to be overly compassionate towards certain persons. Does this mean that the Buddhist friend has some unrighteous people around him?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It depends on whose voice it was in the dream. After all, it could be a demon that was speaking. Compassion is eternal. Hence, we should treat everyone with compassion regardless of who they are. In fact, even Ksitigarbha (Di Zang Wang) Bodhisattva’s punishment of evil spirits and those wrongdoers is for the compassionate purpose of saving them.

Caller: I understand now.

*NEVER OPT FOR EUTHANASIA AS IT WOULD CAUSE MORE SUFFERINGS TO THE SOUL UPON DEATH*

Caller: How are you, Master? May I know from a Buddhism standpoint, is euthanasia considered an act of suicide for cases where patients requested to be euthanised because they are unwilling to undergo the intractable suffering from their illnesses?

Master Jun Hong Lu: One should never get involved in any decision involving the administration of euthanasia, even if is at the behest of someone. It is tantamount to responding to a request by a person with an unsound mind who tells you “Please kill me!”, would you oblige? You will still be subject to death penalty for doing so! It’s absolutely wrong! That may truly be his wish, but it does not mean that you have the liberty to act on it.

Caller: I see. Euthanasia is about ending one’s life ahead of the person's predestined death. If we accede to such a request, we are as good as interfering with the law of karma.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Exactly! This person may think that his physical suffering will cease post euthanasia; in reality, his spirit will have to undergo much more intense agony when he dies.

*WHAT IS THE NOTION OF FORM?*

As Buddhists, we should not be attached to form. In fact, we should rid ourselves from the notion of form.

*What is the notion of form?*
When you are driven by a specific motive in doing something, this is what it means by “being attached to the notion of form”.

Instead, we should practise compassion toward all beings and recognise that all are connected and help others unconditionally - “I am least concerned about my own interest, as long as what I do is able to help sentient beings”.

We should not hold on to any thoughts on the deeds that we have done, nor should we be attached to any notion of form. Do not think, “Hei, I got to achieve this today!”

Instead, we should just accord with conditions and take comfort when we learn that others are doing better than us.

Just like how a mother would always wish for her child to live a better life than her. The same goes with a father.

Unfortunately, for us, we always think, “I want to have a better life than him, I want to dress better than him”. Why so? These are all selfish motives and they are referred to as being “attached to the perception of form”.

*Abstain from the Act of Killing*

The antonym of life liberation is the act of killing - its retributive effect is highly severe. When committing the act of killing, the animals will oppose greatly to being killed. This will then affect the energy field of the person committing the act, resulting in a negative impact. Even though we are not the one who killed the animals when we consume live seafood, they die because of us. Hence, this is also considered as an act of killing.

“Amongst all sins, the act of killing is the most severe; Amongst all virtues, refrain from killing is foremost”
—— Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom

*WHAT MONEY CAN’T BUY*

Master Jun Hong Lu: Money may buy you medicine but cannot buy you life;

money may buy you insurance but cannot buy you safety;

money may buy you temporary joy but cannot buy you happiness;

money may buy you material goods but cannot buy you contentment;

money may buy you a marriage but cannot buy you love;

money may buy you supplements but cannot buy you health.
