*MASTER JUN HONG LU MAKE CHARITABLE DONATION TO CAMBODIA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL*

On the morning of 28 November 2019, *volunteers from Guan Yin Citta Singapore and Cambodia* jointly visited the *Kantha Bopha IV Children's Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia* to make a charitable *donation to the hospital on behalf of Master Jun Hong Lu*. The hospital provides free medical care for Cambodian children and treats 1,500 to 2,000 critically ill children every day.

During the visit, volunteers learned up- close about life's bitterness and impermanence as they see the pitiable sights of young children with bloated stomachs and broken legs etc. Deep in their hearts they know that, *only with diligence in Buddhism practice can one be liberated from these sufferings.*

In the afternoon, the volunteers headed to the *Future Light Orphanage in Phnom Penh to donate essential items on behalf of Master Jun Hong Lu*. The orphanage, which was established and funded solely by the mother of the current dean, has been providing for more than 60 children. All the children have been enrolled in government schools and will be supported by the orphanage through high school. Although the donation was just a small act of kindness, it brought joy to the children, who then expressed their gratitude aloud to Guan Yin Bodhisattva and Master Lu. Though short, the visit ended with a tearful farewell.

Through these meaningful visits, volunteers further realised that there are still many people out there who need help. Therefore, *they should all the more cherish what they have today, and strive to propagate Buddhism so as to help those in need to be truly liberated from worldly sufferings.*

*TRUE CULTIVATION IS TO LIVE A LIFE OF SIMPLICITY*

Master Jun Hong Lu: A happy life is a simple life. We have to learn contentment, tolerance, magnanimity and not to complicate things unnecessarily. When we find ourselves to be spiritually burdened, we tend to impute all faults and blame on others. Therefore, it is essential for us to periodically erase those bad and unpleasant memories that we have been holding on to. Life is short, do not be attached to fame or wealth. Live a life of simplicity - this is true cultivation.

*SACRIFICE OURSELVES FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS*

Master Jun Hong Lu: As Buddhist practitioners, we must recognise that life is more than eating good food, sleeping in a comfortable bed, or having a stable job -- life is more than just repeating mundane tasks in order to acquire money to sustain our lifestyle. Humans are mighty in how we are able to create and live a life to serve other sentient beings as lofty are the ones who serve others. Hence, we must relinquish notions of the micro self in order to serve the macro collective, to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others, learning from the spirit of Guan Yin Bodhisattva who accedes to every plea. In all things, care not about fulfilling the insignificant wishes of ours. Instead, pray only for the liberation of sentient beings.

*THE GREATEST PAIN IN LIFE IS WAITING TO REAP WHAT ONE SOWS; ONE WILL NOT SUFFER IF ONE DOESN’T SOW THE SEEDS OF CAUSE*

Master Jun Hong Lu: The greatest pain in life is waiting for your actions to bear karmic fruit. Thus, you will not suffer if you do not sow the seeds of cause. You will not have to endure the torment of waiting for the judge’s decision if you do not get involved in a lawsuit. But that’s the way people are. Can you not perform any causal actions? Why must you do so?

*THE DEFINITION OF TOLERANCE FOR WORDS, PEOPLE AND MATTERS*

Caller: Master has mentioned before that, there are three aspects of tolerance, namely the tolerance for words, people and matters. Would you please elaborate further, Master Lu?

Master Jun Hong Lu: ‘Tolerance for appearance’ is to be tolerant of others regardless of their physical appearance. Similarly, when it comes to ‘tolerance for words’, we should be forgiving no matter what others may have said. As for ‘tolerance for people’, be forbearing with others despite their speech and action. And when you have ‘tolerance for matters’, it means you have the tolerance for all the good and bad in others as you are someone who allows nature to take its course. With that, a forbearing person is a person with tolerance, which is the trait that leads to diligence in one’s spiritual cultivation.

Caller: I understand now.

*LEARN TO FORGIVE OTHERS SO YOUR LIFE CAN BECOME CAREFREE*

When it comes to family conflicts and dealing with others, you should learn to adapt to the social environment so as to brighten your surroundings.

Learn to adjust your mindset so you can avoid being pessimistic and depressed;
Learn to forgive others so your life can become carefree;
Learn to dedicate yourself to helping others so you can fill your life with positive energy.

If you look at this world with emotions, it would be a tragedy; if you look at this world with rationality, it would be a tragicomedy; if you look at this world with stubbornness, it would be a farce; and if you look at this world with wisdom, it would be a play that manifests the law of causality.

*I Find the Right Path to Buddhism: Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door*

"Now I would read Master Lu’s _Buddhism in Plain Terms_, listen to Master Lu’s recording, understanding in a deeper sense of why human beings need to practise the Dharma and spiritual cultivation to be able to reason with the truth and avoid being ignorant. If we don’t practise the Dharma in this world, we don’t even know where we went wrong when something is amiss, let alone knowing the solution to solve the problems."

*The Meaning of Life Expounded by Buddhism*
Buddhism in Plain Terms
Vol 1.3

"The most honourable thing in life is, even when faced with hypocrisy and injustice from other people, you are still able to maintain kindness towards them. If you find out that the other party is a hypocrite or an unrighteous person, yet you’re still able to extend your warmth to them with a smile, then you are a Bodhisattva."
