*DREAMT ABOUT MESSAGES SENT FROM GUAN YIN BODHISATTVA RECITE THE THREE “PILLARS” OF SCRIPTURES FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO LAY A SOLID FOUNDATION*

Caller: A Buddhist practitioner dreamt about messages sent from Guan Yin Bodhisattva compassionately: As soon as you wake up in the morning, perform your daily recitation and start with the Great Compassion Mantra, the Heart Sutra, and the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance. Building these three pillars to lay a solid foundation. As for the other mantras, you can recite later or while traveling.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Exactly! As the saying goes, “A day’s plan starts with early morning”. You should perform recitation of the three “pillars” earnestly in the morning. It would be good if you could recite at least once when there wasn’t enough time.

Caller: Master Lu has mentioned previously that due to time constraints, we could recite part of the three “pillars” in the morning, then complete the recitation of the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance after returning home in the evening, is that correct?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, it is correct.

*RECITATIONS OF BUDDHIST SUTRAS CAN ELIMINATE 8 BILLIONS OF LIFE AND DEATH CATASTROPHES*

If you are constantly performing recitations throughout your life, you will be able to eliminate eight billions of life and death catastrophes. The recitations is not limited to just chanting ‘Amitabha’; it also includes recitations of sutras and mantras. When one hears the numeric quantifier – ‘billion’, does it appear to be plentiful?

In other words, a person who spends all his life performing recitations of scriptures will be able to dispel many calamities. Do you think disasters and difficulties will befall upon one who recites scriptures throughout his life? In the past, the nuns and monks who renounced their commoners’ lifestyle at a very young age and they did their recitations in the temples all their lives, did they encounter any calamity in the temples? Just take a look at how much sufferings and calamities we have to endure in the Human Realm. Therefore, Dharma is indubitable. Although you may have committed many bad deeds in your past lives, however, if you are able to offer your prayers and perform recitations and repent sincerely like the monks and nuns; your grievous sins will gradually be dispelled. For example, to those young Buddhist friends from the Secretariat Department; if they had committed many bad deeds in their past lives; be it in lifestyles, careers or family lives, and if they begin to perform recitations and repentances as well as amassing merits in the Guan Yin Hall daily now, what calamities would befall them? This is how many of the impending disasters are being resolved.

Repentance is the root for all Buddhist Practitioners -

*VIRTUE IS GIVING OTHERS HOPE*

Someone once asked me, “What is Virtue?”  Let me tell you that virtue is giving others hope, in other words, imparting wisdom to others.  Virtue is not an external pursuit.  It originates intrinsically from our compassionate nature, which develops into selfless love for all sentient beings, with the aim of helping people in this world.

Buddhist practitioners shall sow seeds extensively in the field of merits and diligently cultivate wisdom to accomplish the true purpose of life.  The cultivation of both merits and wisdom is essential in practising Dharma.  This is because merits and wisdom are just like a pair of aircraft wings.  An aircraft could not take off when either of its wings is absent.  Therefore, a blessed man certainly possesses wisdom, while a wise man is certainly blessed.  So, let’s create a true life of Dharma through the cultivation of mind, merits and wisdom.

*WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON WITH HIGH-LEVEL PERCEPTION?*

Caller: How do we determine a person's level of perception? What are the characteristics of a person with high-level perception?

Master Jun Hong Lu: What are the characteristics of a person with high-level perception? They are the ones who will not take to heart, whatever they see. When they come to know about something, they will try to understand but will avoid any form of fight or argument as they are fully aware that this world is impermanent. Don’t you think such a person has high-level perception? To put it plainly, they will not quarrel or compete with others, because they have broken away from the vexations in this world.

Caller: I understand now.

*RISING ABOVE YOUR PAIN AND LOSSES*

Buddhist cultivation will enable us to grow from strength to strength. Do not be too quick to judge if we have gained or lost in life.

Let your loss manifest into a form of gain, and you will be blessed with good fortune. Regard your afflictions as an affinity that spurs you to progress spiritually.

I hope everyone of you will learn Buddhism earnestly. When you are able to forget about your pain and eliminate them, you will stand to gain from the positive conditions for spiritual progression. If you are able to be awakened through the afflictions endured, you will acquire the wisdom of Bodhisattva.
