After Viz Branz's announcement of a share sale discussion, its share price gained an additional 6.3% to bring its YTD gain to 116%. Although the discussions are non-binding, this recent news has clearly provided a strong catalyst for the counter. Meanwhile, we updated our projections for Viz Branz on account of an anticipated strong set of 4Q12 results, on the back of resilient demand in its core markets and lower operating costs. As such, we raised our valuation to S$0.69 for Viz Branz and reiterate our HOLD rating. However, should a takeover occur, we deemed that a high premium would be highly unlikely. In fact, evaluation of past takeovers have led us to believe that only a small premium of 2% would be applied for a takeover estimated price of around S$0.70/share. Therefore, as the difference between our derived fair values is minute, we urge investors to exercise caution. Reiterate our HOLD rating at a fair value estimate of S$0.69. (Lim Siyi)

If it is Ben Chug who is negotiating and selling, it should be even better, I think. As he is de facto the key man heading/running Viz , and he has bought a big portion of his present shareholding from the open-market and likely partially financed by debts, Ben should know and be prepared to negotiate for a good deal and price for himself - and hopefully it will apply to all other shareholders as well!

Better still if the China operation is the 1 boosting growth. China is slowing but the coffee culture trend should be growing as its a low base coffee culture.

2nd wing is Myanmar - everybody is wanting to see what kind of connection they have struck all these years of easing their way into this country?

Commodities price continue to drop and therefore margin should be improving quite a bit.

All these point to deal in the marking is not difficult to strike! Super valuation is much higher than Viz from a Revenue/market cap basis

Myanmar story need time to realize. Normally the pioneer into a newly open market does not bring in profit immediately. The infrastructure need time to build-up. To go in now is rational as to keep a significant present for future.

I agreed with you on other points. “金味咖啡” (Goldroast) brand is well-known to China.

Personally I think that he is taking some profit or sell for some personal reason.

From the annoucement, he only selling a small portion of his stake. If he know that the deal failed and the price is over value, he would sell off his entire stake and wait the trading price to go lower before he acquire it back.

My own opinion only.

After so long, no news means no offer confirmed. Look at F&N collapse as market realised the stake is not that big and most of it is between what Heineken is able to counter/may/may not counter offer.

If really Viz has a deal why took so long. Can it fall 50% or more like Superior!!
