Interestingly, not once in PM Lee's Speech did he use the word "Lockdown" but merely the words circuit breakers etc.

However, many people are sharp enough to pick it up that its akin to a lockdown.

Now that restaurants are restricted to being takeaway options, I am interested to know how retail malls will be affected. With many malls leased out to restaurants and eateries, the lack of dine in options especially duringweekends will greatly affect the sales.

PMI is one thing (factories) but it seems a lot of commercial real estate are going to suffer a 1 month slump and along with it, lower sales and rental revenue

It's easy, just contrast this across the straits where there are (1) frequent police roadblocks assisted by army personnel armed with assault rifles, (2) cannot travel more than 10km from your home, (3) only the "head" of the household can buy groceries, (4) all food stalls are mandated to close after 8pm and (5) wives are encouraged to talk like Doraemon.....ok fine, the last one is a joke as part of the HRO (Humor Release Order) in Msia.

Interesting, across both straits, critical industries continue to operate (Msia - oil and timber, Spore - pharma/semiconductor/petrochem).

For the individual, this isn't much of a lock down persay in terms of individual freedom. But for businesses, there is probably no difference between a "circuit breaker" and "lockdown".

It's actually quite ironic that HK talk about cramp housing. I think Khaw started with the minimum 10m square rule per pax few years back. Wonder why this happended or it's temporary / no choice
