How about COE $1k soon? Big Grin  Been a long wait. Time to enjoy some of the profits from my Vicom investment Wink

It is only during severe market panics that better quality and appropriately priced stocks become apparent; they are sold down less than the others.

Owners of such stocks like Vicom now have the luxury of switching to other beaten down assets.

I agree.

Don't forget all those who think it is a gr8 idea to "leverage to buy reits" or "sell options for a dividend stream". Retire early using these 2 methods!

The COE today, though a tad lower, is still quite stable.

Private housing mkt seems to be healthy too.

From the ground news above, SG residents seem to be coping alright, agst the backdrop of Brexit, trade war, Covid19(+ lockdowns/travel restrictions in many parts of the world), oil price war, Fed cutting rates to almost 0(instead of leaving some "ammunition" for future use).

I can only surmise perhaps this is an indication of the widening income gap between the haves and have-nots.

Most Hong Kong Hotels have only single digit occupancy during Feb and so must be in worse situation compared to Singapore hotels.

The compulsory 14 day stay in quarantine for all visitors entering Hong Kong ( and stay will be paid by the visitor ) is the major deterrent .

I feel mandating the choice of telecommuting for feasible roles shd have been implemented long time ago as it could be a start in beefing up our low birth rates and to provide better care for our aging population. I have worked in European companies where my European counterparts are on flexi work schedule, i.e. they only work on certain days of the week - now that is a great step towards work-life balance. No wonder bear dreams of migrating to Europe occasionally(on a upper middle class footing else life can be quite difficult) It means better life for my next generation too !

While I think there is no avoidance to roll out help packages & provide world class measures(superb NCID, high-end hotel stay - this is debatable as in forum letter below) during this difficult time, sometimes I shudder to think who's going to pay for all these, after the dust has settled ? Would it be ok not to top back up our drawn reserves since the high economic growth period we see in the past is over as SG has achieved developed nation status ?
