GST was introduced by him and asset enhancement too on our HDB flats. So to be in World Cup final in 2010 too is by him.(22-06-2014, 11:24 AM)Lancelot Wrote: Have we achieved Swiss standard ? One thing for sure is Cost of Living that we should not forget. I like the Gov to cut the crap on doing away with one item or two items from CPI and sweep the issue under the carpet. Basic necessity is important but so are major items. Stop playing around with statistic. We need to measure performance YoY. Apple to apple.

Clearly the vision was way far off the target. Wonder what is his shifted new date for Singapore team in world cup?

Well, there is no harm to aim for the moon, as long as the execution remains pragmatic. I am also aiming for the moon now, with a targeted return from investment, which not too far from our mentors. I wouldn't blame those laughing at me on the "vision", because I do have the similar feeling. Vision set, and next with a prudent execution. I might be super lucky and able to achieve the same, many years later. Pardon me for a slight OT

Its so visionary that each one will understand it from their own perspective. That is the beauty of politics.

lol, I remember the world cup promise.... when Singapore failed to deliver, the tack was immediately changed to "we know it is quite an impossible task but we aim for it anyway so that we have a target, so we should not take it literally" or something to that extent.

Funny how much the discuss can deviated from the topic.

And Swiss standard of living by 2020(?) I agree with CF it is not an issue having high targets as long as it is pragmatic. But obviously we do not have the culture and leadership aptitude to execute that dream. Think Youth Olympic... a showcase of degree with no temperature. And of course I don't remember Swiss having an extensive FT policy. I think we do have the Swiss cost of living.
