Recently i noticed a rise in coverage of Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals
And this seems to be the the in-flavour play at the moment

e.g. QT VASCULAR
and Talkmed Group Ltd

With all the hype surrounding cancer, health & pallative care... it looks good as a theme.

But wait... because over in the US, companies that are in the Pharmaceuticals are quite 'hot' as well, e.g. AstraZeneca & Pfizer, Idenix Pharma & Merck (big names and big caps btw)

In the NASDAQ, there are a lot of smaller name companies that are also getting FDA and the promises of being successful, yet the Mar - Apr month we saw Biotech counters fell drastically. http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/ind...tory_Chart

Ok, it is just a general observation, not indepth to the SG Healthcare, Biotech & Pharmaceuticals companies...

The crux is this: SG market is really small, even smaller than NASDAQ's offering.
Unless there is a clear deal that the companies' products can take off, it is more likely to be a pump and dump over here in SG listed market counters.

Just an observation.

anyone has any insights into how to value hospitals clinics? RMG, Q&M and now even talkmed. QT vascular seems abit diff coz its more equipment focus (IIRC). at least on the first glance, my impression of these hospital/clinic businesses are that it's very doctors-driven, meaning if the doctors' tie-up with the company ends, it could impact the value of the firm by quite abit. would appreciate any form of guidance on this.

Healthcare industry that will have inelastic demand. This is true.
However, in the heathcare businesses, especially the REITs, they can only make normal profits.
The super-normal profits are earned directly as fees by the doctors.
