S'pore cancels invites to Indonesian Officers - ST by Jermyn Chow (Defence Correspondent) & Zakir Hussin(Indonesia Bureau Chief)

Indonesia's Defence Ministry's public communications head Sisriadi Iskandar said Singapore had pulled the invitation to Indonesian Navy chief Marsetio and 100 Indinesian Armed Forces Officers.

Wayang wayang only. for the elections.

I think gov is using the military to pressure the politicians.
Naming of ship is by politicians maybe.....

yeah come to think of it, yes we do have quite a fair bit of ex military in the gov now.

my opnion is that this is more deep and not wayang. Usually when neighbors quarrel mud sling back and forth politicians may talk & beat war drums but military arrangements will continue.

In malaysia we gone thru many big quarrels with them but military exchanges remained the same, thailand after thaksin coup shin corp controversy but military ties remained strong they never kicked us out. Taiwan 'pee-sai' comments by their politicians but training and exchanges never stopped.

For us to pull invitations s a different posturing already. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come.
