What do you think about investing in second hand watches? I've never done it before but I've just found an Omega that I really like here: http://www.chrono24.sg/omega/index.htm
Is it worth investing in?

I feel that generally anything you collect if kept in good condition after a passage of time like 30 years should increase in value, but usually anything mechanical has parts will wear and tear in 30 years will break down. If you can repair it great but what if they don't produce the parts anymore?

Also watches can be expensive hobby 1 watch can be up to 10k how much money you can throw in and keep for 30 years?

I prefer collecting old whiskey.

A bottle of 20yo scotch now doesn't cost very much, has no moving parts doesn't break down and after 30 years will still taste like a bottle of 20yo scotch but time changes everything the bottling the labelling could no longer be produced by then the distiller could have gone out of business by then and all these will be a factors into determining the value and rarity of the bottle of scotch.

collecting art also good idea there's no moving parts to break down and if the artist dies the value goes up.

once was in a taxi, behind the driver seat was a small stack of her world and female magazines from late 1960's to early 1970's in pretty mint condition. I offered the driver $20 for 1 magazine he didn't even want to part with any of it. It probably cost him like less than $10 in the 70's

talking of investing in other things, collector series mont blanc, the lesser the circulating number, the better, is also a good bet, especially if one is able to wait for 5-10years.

after reading some magazine article about pens, I bought an unused qing dynasty jade mont blanc fountain pen maybe about 9 years ago for 4k. My wife thought I was mad. Spent 4k on a pen, but want to search and save for my daughter's baby items.

this turned out to be not a bad investment at all. the last time I checked the price had doubled. alas, i only managed to buy one.

not sure about watches and wines, but for pens, here are some sharing points from my experience:

1) go for fountain pens, not ballpoint ones
2) medium nib ones, not small nib
3) small circulating numbers
4) if possible, good serial numbers, avoid 4.
5) make sure got cert. when buy and satisfied that it is unused/mint condition with box.
6) same as for stocks, be on a keen look out, sometimes, opportunity might knock when someone needs money urgently and want to sell off some precious items.
7) be prepared to hold on to it.
8) treat it as sort of a hobby and enjoy it in the meantime while waiting for it to appreciate (at least this investment, u can look at it and admire it physically, stocks cannot.)

I like watches, but no sure if I can personally call it investing though.
I buy watch because they look nice and all, but to spend the cash putting into something that can be mildly illiquid can be a conflict of my other interests lol.

Suggest you walk into a resale watch shop and ask about the resale value of Omega.
