Hi Muck,

The NTUC income term has the same coverage benefit of TPD and death in its mechanism. However, one main difference: 1) it charges $4.30 for every 100k coverage as compared to AVIVA's $12.80.

The other is that only public servants qualify for the NTUC income plan.

Hope it clarifies.

Thanks CY09, I guess I've been looking at a different thing.... The Aviva plan I saw covers $100k up to age 65 for only $4.10. Cheers.

Muck no worries, that AVIVA plan is only for 2 specific ministries employees.

The 12.80 monthly term plan is open to all Singapore males who have completed or are undergoing NS

KIDASSURE GIO RIDER BY TOKIO MARINE LIFE INSURANCE SINGAPORE

KidAssure GIO Rider provides coverage against death, 16 medical conditions commonly experienced during childhood, including autism, severe asthma, bacterial meningitis, leukaemia and major head trauma, as well as eight hospitalisation conditions like burns, choking, hand, foot and mouth disease and Zika.

Designed to provide coverage for a child up to age 19, premium payments are required for only five years. No medical underwriting is needed but the insurer requires a health declaration. The cover ceases when the child turns 19, at which point an 80 per cent refund on total annual premiums will be payable.

For example, the annual premium for a $50,000 cover for a child aged between six and 10 is $350, payable for five years. This works out to total premiums of $1,750 of which $1,400 is refunded when the child turns 19.

The child will be covered for a death benefit of $50,000, $10,000 for each medical condition and $500 for each hospitalisation condition. The medical and hospitalisation conditions are claimable up to five times.

I went to my fren's father wake yesterday. He passed on from lung cancer which spread to the brain. He opted for an experimental drug for his dad which managed to reduce the cancer cells in his lung by alot according to him. There were no side effects for this drug according to him. But the cells became immune to the drug a year later. The drug cost S$7k to S$8k a mth. It prolonged his dad's life for a year for his case. Being experimental drug, they are not claimable from whatever P-medical shields (i believe. GE included a new clause few years back to disallow experimental drugs claims). The drug cost wiped out his dad medical cpf followed by his.

Will you choose this unclaimable drug if it can prolonged your loved ones life for a year or more?

If SGD100k is expensive, you ain't see nothing yet!  Blush

E.g.

Gilead Science (Kite Pharma) - Yescarta @ USD373,000

Novartis - Kymriah @ USD475,000

GSK - Strimvelis @ USD665,000

Spark Therapeutics - Luxturna @ USD850,000

Part of the reason for the high price charged is due to the fact that these are highly customised autologous therapies.
