Hi

Newbie here. A few questions to ask seniors here.

As a Singapore, if I invest in US stocks do we pay capital gains tax when we sell the stock?
Do we pay a dividend tax when we collect dividends?

Can we trade options in US markets? If yes what taxes or expenses are we liable to pay?

Thank you

No, you don't pay capital gain tax.

No, you don't pay dividend tax. But you have to pay 30% withholding tax.

as for options, I never trade it before. so no idea.

Thank you freedom.

Does 30% withholding tax means dividend less 30%?

how come this withholding 30% tax is the same as the one mentioned in the FATCA to catch those recalcitrant persons who don't declare whether they are US persons?

does it mean if I declare I am US person in overseas, I am not subject to the 30% withholding tax?

Not to mention for local brokerages, they charge custodians fees

So far only standchart is free of this fee.

As for otc (over the counter stocks) local brokerages do not offer.
But u can buy then through a US stock broker via optionsxpress, as an example.
