Flash floods strike Singapore on Thursday morning, hitting several parts in the west of the city-state and disrupting traffic. Places affected include Commonwealth, Queenstown and Clementi. Rising water levels also led to the closure of Ayer Rajah Expressway between Clementi and parts of East Coast Parkway at 8:48am. The affected stretches opened to traffic about an hour later.

Companies dealing w road repair, with capabilities in preventing flood shld do very well now that the ministry put money into fixing the flood problem. Those things done in the pass few years seem not enuff, or not good enuff.

10 years ago we had such rains but no problem not so many cases. Now they dig here tunnel there pour concrete are there obstacles, have the flow been re-directed that is now affecting drainage?

If you just take a walk or cycle along the park connectors adjascent to the a huge rain canal that is suppose to absorb all the flooding. That canal stretches from boat quay, clark quay, zouk, great world city all the way past tiong bahru, margaret drive, queenstown, commonwealth, clementi to jurong and exit to the sea from there. How come flooding still can occur I don't understand ?

These floods occur whenever the drainage are work in progress. It happens with Orchard Road not too long ago.
