Bigger picture wise, just like property sector, auto sector is likely past its peak growth in china. last i heard they were restricting car sales to limit pollution and the sector was slowing down. slowdown could ultimately filter down to memtech if they expand into this sector. there will be a lag period when this happens, so hard to tell until a couple more quarters later.

China's Shenzhen latest city to restrict car sales

China Auto Retail Sales Climb at Slowest Pace in Five Months

memtech has done a good turnaround but just unlucky they are operating in a difficult environment with slowdown in China. A risk to consider now that share price has run up so quickly.

Memtech price down from $1.50 peaks to $1.07 with meltdown today with high volume. RISK mentioned has become reality.

2Q results yesterday, top and bottom line pretty much flat YoY. EPS still stable.

back on radar again, looks likely to hit $1 or less again, yield is being quickly uncompressed back up towards 6%+ levels again Big Grin

As mentioned before auto sector is slowing together with everything else in china in general, but cars will breakdown and will be replaced so there is money to be made in the auto sector, just at the right price.

The source is KGI Fraser & the excerpt reported at NextInsight, but the news is probably already 1 week old.

Any view on this company anyone? From value investing point of view especially. It is quite illiquid and huge drop of price right after 5-1 consolidation. However, the price has since recovered to pre-consolidation level. In fact, the price is higher now than the pre-consolidation price. I am already vested but getting more interested after the announcement of dividend policy. This is not a typical s chip but they have factories in China and their market is also mainly China. Any concern? Any red flag?

Read some of my previous post u can get some idea. Not a bad company and business.

I dun see anything red flagging. And only thing is that the slowdown in china could impact it's profits.

But still it should be profitable and sustain dividend.

Profit Guidance  for the Second Quarter ended 30 June 2016

Memtech International Ltd.considers it appropriate to issue a profit guidance, ahead of the Company’s announcement of results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2016.

Following an assessment of the Group's financial results, the Directors would like to advise shareholders that the Group expects to report a loss for 2Q2016 due mainly to lower demand for the Group's telecommunication products and higher costs. The delay in the fulfilment of a major order at customer's request was also a contributory factor.

Further details regarding the Group's financial performance will be made available on 11 August 2016 when the Group finalizes and discloses its unaudited consolidated financial results for 2Q2016.
