The world might be celebrating abenomics but something has to give. Inflation targetting when >20% of your population is > 65 means punishing your savers/retirees but giving a chance to your youth and indebted. Unfortunately it is the votes that matter....Take care of yourself because you cannot trust your politicians to take care of you.

remember, in a democratic society, it's the majority that matters - better be prepared for the day when you look ard and find yourself in the minority

How sad... a large number of these new 'criminals' were caught for shop-lifting for food.... The irony is, the state is ultimately forced to take care of them... in prison...Rolleyes

Hope it shall not ever happens in Singapore. If it does for such a small red little RED DOT, i think we are finished as a "nation"; as a people.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

the news did say crime rate over the last decade actually declined 17%. and only 158more elderly cases happened.

seems like the news is over-exagerrating.?

Criminal offenses by those 65 or older reached 48,544 in 2012, with shoplifting accounting for 59 percent, according to the National Police Agency. Total crime in Japan actually declined 17 percent over the last decade. About 158 senior citizens per 100,000 committed offenses in 2012, up from 103 a decade earlier.

what is more sad to me was that the thefts were for food, not some young thing stealing LV bags....
