Happly New Year to all.

I start this thread to seek you forumers' opinion on how to deal with merchant.

As any other CNY, my wife and I bought few pack of "bak kua" some as gift to relatives and our own consumption. This year we bought 3 packs on two occasions, first 2 packs 1 kg and 1/2 kg both slice meat type. Second occasion is a package of 1 kg also sliced meat.

On the first 2 package, the supposed 1 package weigh (given to a close relative) only 800g. The other 1/2 kg pack (for our own consumption) also weight 800g on our home scale.

On both packages, they were mixed with some minced meat. About 1/4 of them. We were also shock that the sliced meat type turned black. They are definately over grilled. I am not sure whats' wrong with them.

So there are 3 issue:
1) weight not according to what we paid for
2) sliced meat mixed with cheaper minced meat
3) a portion of it turn black. The minced meat pieces are ok.

The other 1kg pack (also given to relative) is considered ok when I check with them. But I need to check and confirm personally if it contain all sliced and correct weight.

Fellow formers, these are from a supposedly reputable merchant having one to the most outlets in Sg. I am sure there were more a hundred of customers on the day when we bought them as we waited in queue of more then 10 before us. So you can imagine how many customer were "cheated".

Please give me some idea on how to deal with this merchant? I don't think I want to let them get away with this easily. Appreciate your comment. Tks.

Got photographic evidence?

Next, if you only dare to address this merchant by 'this merchant', then no one will know who this merchant is.

So, posting on the internet also no point, because at the end of the day, no one will know who this black merchant is.

It is the same when employees complain about certain unethical business or unemployment practices. A very long complain, but at the end of the day, no hard evidence or even if have, don't want to name the company.

So, the black merchant will get away with it and be rewarded for doing the wrong thing.

Contact consumer association, they should be able to advise you.

Did you go back to the merchant and tell them about it? CASE would most probably refer you back to the merchant unless the merchant does not want to entertain you.

Yes I did took photos of the 2 pack.

I have not decided whether to expose this black merchant on Internet yet. I may do it later. FYI have not eaten any of the " bak kua" yet except opening them for photo shot.

Our CASE is hopeless as far as I am concerned. They only handle cases involving tourist. For local, we néed to sign up as member before they would act for us. Which means $$$.

The store is not open for the new year yet. I want some opinions first before I confront them.

To me this is not just about getting replacement or refund. I hope to sent a message to merchant not to take customer for granted. I think as consume, we can only expect what we paid for. Nothing more nothing less. This kind of sh.t is making my blood boil.

Since you have not tried going back to get a replacement, you might wish to try it. A reputable merchant would try to pacify its customers.
