Our S. $ is 2.5 to M .Ringgit. But can we really buy the same thing at 2.5 times more across the causeway? Never!
WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

NB:-
My signature is meant for psychoing myself. No offence to anyone. i am trying not to lose money unnecessary anymore.

not across the causeway lah Singapreans are the biggest tourist for johore more than 50,000 visitors each day expect they will try to make as much as they can. We also have ourselves to blame many go inside to spoil the market but if go to small town malaysia there you will see the buying power but no shopping center or food court Tongue

more or less i decided already. i wld most likely semi retire at age 37. by end this yr. ie work 3days a week.
that will free up 1/2 my time. it will cost an additional 7-8k per mth in manpower fees. but as i am in top tax bracket, this will translate to an effectively lower than 7-8kpm expense.
to earn 40-50kpm currently, i dun think i can feel much difference if i earn 35-45kpm.
i got minimal loans on my ppties. no loans on my cars. emergency cash to last 3-5yrs. even all my investment portfolio goes belly up(damn unlikely), worst case senario, i still got active income. just that i wld get scolded by my wife for the rest of my life by doing investing instead of buying more houses.
most imptly i got free time!

Yes, time is the most valuable resource in the world, not money. You can hoard money but there is no way to hoard time (or turn back time) unless you invent a time machine!

For me, now I spend many hours working at my salaried job wondering when I can "buy" myself more time in future. Meanwhile, my body is getting older every minute.....the irony is once we eventually reach financial freedom the body may be too old to enjoy it! Undecided

Let me share with you my side of it. retirement and financially free is over rated ! once you get there you will know what i am talking about.I am now in this category and recently I have started a biz to kill some of my time and to network, not so much as for the money. 2 problems you will have to address. one is lonely as suddenly you don't have working friends and the other you would have lost the purpose of life now that you don't have to chase that pot of gold. there is so much golf that you can play, so much places that you can visit before you are weary of travelling(believe me I have travel a lot to many far flung places) and there is so much you can eat. i have tried eating restaurant food for 6 mths and finally decided that i am not going to die eating. so now my favorite food is teochew porridge and the occasional restaurant food.

The “have” and “have-not” will always have different views on financial freedom. I agree with everything you said. I belong to the “have-not” group and am working hard to achieve your status. To people like me, yours is a good problem to have. I think the fundamental difference between one who have achieved financial freedom and one who have not is the former has a CHOICE. You can choose to go back to working class if you like, and can choose to stay away if you like. But the one who have not achieved financial freedom will not have this liberty. Agree?

They are more people in this forum that have achieved financial freedom than I expect. Power!

i am glad that when i was starting to becone successful more than 5yrs ago, i did not lose my head n blow my cash on a supercar like a rolls royce or boat or some silly resort island. instead i rapidly build up my portfolio to quickily increase my passive flow. if i had done the former, i will prob be left with little choice but to remain in this rat race. thats a common nistqke pple make when they hav little more money.

But u blow it on a car plate number. Does it have investment value? I read that some single digit numbers can be sold for a huge amount.
