Sounds ridiculous that a senior position is proposed, accepted and rejected all in a week.  This is afterall not a class monitor position. My guess, most likely someone more powerful like temasek objected the appointment.

Tribal council style of decision making.
If he's so busy the other side and there is more important, why is he even a board member here then?

In the short term, business fundamentals will not be much different no matter who gets the job.

I think we all can agree that "time constraints" is definitely not the real reason.

We wont know the real reason, probably some power grab going on in the board

An interesting article on Bloomberg on Singapore boards with a specific focus on Sing Post.

Let us see whether this nudges the board in the right direction

I am not an investment professional.

I encourage you to do your own independent "due diligence" on any idea that I write about, because I could be and probably am wrong.

Nothing written here is an invitation to buy or sell any particular stock.

At most, I am handing out an educated guess as to what the markets may do.

The market will always find a new way to make a fool out of me (and maybe, even you!).

Even the best strategies of the past fail, sometimes spectacularly, when you least expect it.

I am not immune to that, so please understand that any past success of mine will probably be followed by failures

Usually a company performs well when there is a passionate leader with a clear plan forward, not just on business performance but also towards shareholder interests.

I don't see it in this board. Shareholders need to be more discerning.
Dividend yield can only be meaningful provided the share price does not erode!
