Don't mind me saying, but that other forum does not discuss companies in great detail at all. Tongue

I thought Crabcrab's thread in CNA is pretty informative, especially with all the updates and figures on Swiss Watch Manufacturers' Association or some trade body like that.

On a another note, tourist arrivals hit almost 1million in October. (link)

there was this prominent news today 31 dec 2010 on the things that became obsolete in this decade.. one of the items was watch overtaken by mobile phone...i wonder if the mgt of hour glass are concerned about this..

on e same vein, another item on that list was book store..overtaken by things like amazon, online store etc..in this aspect, i can see popular holdings in this decade have branched out into e-learning or even property development ..seems like the mgt in popular may have seen this somehow

The Hour Glass has a 31-month instalment plan (till 16 Jan 2011) exclusively for dbs/posb credit cardmembers on today's papers - THG will absorb the interest and cardmembers get to receive a travel-sized Bols & Cox Watch Cleaning Kit when charged more than S$5,000 to the credit cards.

This will make it quite easy for most young executives with a DBS/POSB credit card to buy 1 or more nice branded watches from THG during the promotion period. Based on the prevailing very low SGD market interest rates, the additional interest cost associated with such a deferred or instalment payment arrangement - presumably absorbed by THG - is actually quite small.

interest free for 31 months is fine.

Just stick to established brands like rolex, philip patek and be aware of the buy-in price. (not too high!)

2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!

4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

I am indeed very happy to note that since Feb10, THG's share price has consistently out-performed the STI (a measurement of the leading blue-chips listed on SGX) by an increasing margin - by as much as 30% as at 31Dec10.....

So, is it quite fair to say that investing in THG is better than investing in the average blue-chips listed on SGX?

THE HOUR GLASS ($1.08) - This company is likely to achieve record sales/profit for FY2011 with a forecast net profit of around $40 million or EPS $0.17. At current price level of $1.08, it is only trading at Price to earning ratio (PE) of about 6 times. If projected PE is around 10 times (which is still below the SGX average of around 12 - 14 times), the price of Hour Glass may be valued at around $1.70 per share...... Good Luck..... Smile
