A sign of recovering for Nokia? One product will do the magic for technology stock... Tongue

Nokia admits Lumia supply problems
HELSINKI - Nokia admitted the growth of its Windows Phone smartphone business has been held back by supply problems after it feared a potentially costly stockpile of unsold Lumia handsets.

The Finnish giant today revealed financial results that were ahead of most analysts' expectations to break even, but said its performance in the booming smartphone market was limited by short supplies of its flagship device, the Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia phones to get 41-megapixel cameras?

LONDON — Nokia is finally bringing its “revolutionary” 41-megapixel Pureview sensor to its Lumia range of Windows Phone handsets, according to sources close to the Finnish handset maker.

The new model will be known as EOS, and will launch in the summer in the United States, reported The Guardian

They are playing with numbers. 4K HD ie 8MP which is quadruple of current 1080p ie 2MP is likely to be the limit for home theatres based on visual acuity. And I'm talking about >80" TVs.

It is the resolution for camera, instead of display. It will make clearer picture, rather than better "visual acuity" Tongue

How does a 41MP capture be clearer on a 2MP/8MP display, or even say a retina mobile device? Smile Or even say A4 picture, not to mention a 4R size photo.

There is a feature called "zoom" for display and a feature called "crop" to focus part of a picutre to print on 4R, both remain "visual acuity" Tongue

Purely from observations, I don't think Windows Phone will save Nokia... Big Grin

Nokia remains focused on Windows Phone software: CEO

HELSINKI – Nokia Chief Executive Stephen Elop said on Tuesday the company remains focused on using Microsoft’s Windows Phone software to compete with smartphone rivals such as Samsung.

Nokia’s first-quarter results showed incremental gains in sales of Lumia smartphones which use Windows software, while sales of its basic phones - traditionally Nokia’s strong point - plunged. That prompted speculation the company may need to adopt a new strategy.
