The trade will fail. and the trades will be automatically split into CPF (up to the stock limit) and Cash trades.

CPF will be paid by CPF and go into CPF IA. Cash will be paid by cash and goes into CDP.
Never kenna before. Thats what my broker said.

Will it split? When I heard from my broker last time, it was the whole trade will become cash trade.

As such, I am very careful whenever I do CPF trade. I was calculate properly before I do any buy with CPF OA.

Will love to hear from anyone who exactly experience this or have knowledge about it.

Much thanks.

Your order will be fulfilled as usual,
If your cpfis OA bank are not able to withdraw the said amount
Your broker will then contact you to top up with cash the shortfall
point to note is the balance share that you need to make up the shortfall at this instance will be holding in your CDP account instead.
Usually your broker will ask if you wanna transfer back to CPF holding or hold as share in your CDP

You are right in that your broker will call you up to top it up if you can. With CPF it is not so easy for you to top up as you like and also need to subject to limits ie you need to top up much more. Same for SRS account. So alternative is to convert to cash trade. The broker will be reluctant to split the trade between CPF/SRS and cash as it involves lot more paperwork. So unless your trade is a big amt and you are a big client, no deal bro for the miserable % of commision. I had an experience with this problem with my srs account before. Fortunately I could top it up

Dear all, just a question on CPFIS. Let's say I have 180k, and my stock limit of CPF based on 150k is $50k.

Then I buy stocks using CPF worth $50k.

Then I put in balance $100k into my housing loan, as lump sum payment, leaving $30k in OA.

If I make any profits and sell off the shares, will I be able to trade again, or will I be subjected to the stock limit which will be recalculated again?

Thanks to all replies

stock limit will automatically calculated/update on 11th (or 12th) every month
using your balance at the end of previous month.

In your scenario,
1) if you did not sell your share then based on your previous month balance, it's unlikely that you can buy any share.
2) If you sold your share and the refund is back to CPF, then you can request CPF to calculate your stock limit again.

play with the calculator and do share with us your findings:
