Sing Holdings probably will never get privatized. But it does not matter as long as the managements work hard for the shareholders. eventually, the true value of Sing Holdings will be realized by Mr. market. Long term shareholders should be happy to buy Sing Holdings at cheaper price.

Property Project : The Laurels
Update: Sing Holding May 2011
Cumulative Units Sold to-date: 210
Median Price ($psf) in the Month: $3,123
Units sold in May 2011: 1
Cumulative Units Launched but Unsold: 19

The project is currently, 91.7% sold to day. However, with the recent news on increase in supply of public housing and unstability in world economy I guess property will be badly affected. Next Month, June sale will likely to be less 1000 units compared to 1,575 units.

there are a few reasons why it is worth the bet, imho.

1. with profit from the laurels and other development projects, Sing Holdings has the financial muscle to hold the project longer.

2. The land parcel is free-hold and location is in District 10. Sing Holdings can hold the project as long as they want. With inflation, eventually, the high-end and good-location Robin Drive will be worth much more.

Good, Conservative management, think they roughly know that upsides are limited, downside expected. Besides they already ride the market uptrend for the past 3 to 4 yrs.
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR! 
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

it's kinda weird actually... i wonder how much float this company has?

why has no funds come in to takeover?
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR! 
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

This kind of company is difficult to take over.
If the funds wants to pay 50cts, the Lee family will not want since they know the NAV of sing holdings is more than 50cts.
The fund will also be crazy to pay 70cts for Sing holdings.
Unlike some other counters with lands(eg. Bukit Sembawang, Lion Teck Chiang etc) , Sing Holdings do not have much hidden potential to be tapped.

But, the fund can join in the fun to push up the price Tongue

Perhaps shareholders should consider the possibility that 1 dollar retained in the company would be worth less than 1 dollar in real terms in future.

For example, if book value is a good proxy to intrinsic value of a company, and book value has consistently grown at a pace that is less than cost of capital, a discount to book value can be justified when valuing the company. Throw in bad management, and the book value would look even less like the company's intrinsic value.
