I think the recent spate of buyouts is due to mega PE funds raised by KKR, Carlyle, etc. Need to put the billions to work..
Maybe it was a sign when Roast duck Aztech makes a buyout offer...haha..
I thought it is the other way?
STI has been lower or at best flat since 2008. The pool may be ugly and water not clear, but of course good fishermen can still find good & cheap fishes.

I'm personally surprised by this development after they sold to Straits Trading
But I won't be surprised if the final structure shows CK selling out

* Good news and a much needed catalyst for a good business which has been languishing in recent times.
* John Lim has led the business well with good returns and, if the buyout puts him in even better control, thats good news for the company & investors
* The company is possibly worth much more than the current $1.5

The privatisation will be effected by way of a Scheme of Arrangement.
Scheme Consideration of S$1.78 per Scheme Share, representing significant premiums to the following benchmarks up to and including 2 November 20161 :
* 43.9% over the 12-month VWAP;
* 31.7%, 30.3%, 29.6% and 26.2% over the 6-month, 3-month, 1-month VWAPs and the last traded price, respectively
* Exceeds the highest closing price of ARA shares over the past 2.5 years.
The Offeror does not intend to increase the Scheme Consideration and accordingly, this represents the final price for each Scheme Share.
