What do you mean by the real value can be realised sooner by fighting? You mean the business is liquidated and their individual assets sold off? Especially their land properties?

Also would like to know what will happen if a company I had shares in went bankrupt?

Pretty remote possibility that would go bankrupt, right?

Its quite sad to hear this kind of news.. Especially involving family members. But as the article states "the statutory time for her to make this claim has passed". 1992 the mother died. Everything already decided and settled. Suddenly 20years later got issue.

Estate tax of 1.9m over estate of 4m. Well done!

I cannot understand the value of taxes such as estate tax and stamp duty. Little value was added nor service rendered but the amount is disproportionate.

We peasants need to work hard for each penny and dime while governments can easily take a cut of whatever they want.

Estate duty was inherited during the British era, and its original purpose was to avoid over-accumulation of wealth over generations. It is not applicable anymore, thus abolished in 2008

i am not prepared for a showdown as that that would mean liquidating my other assets.
but any forummers with a few million to spare can pm me and we can take it from there.
as mentioned, lim family still control a large bulk of hup. i dun think the likelihood of them throwing in the towel is high. lets see how the court case progresses first.
