You never considered getting thier countries' respective ETFs instead?
Doesn't the annual mgt fees and maintainence fees substract a certain percentage off your returns already?

Hmmm, haven't thot of switching though. While the fees may be hefty, but profits more than cover. If I switch to ETFs, I'm not sure how it compares.

Any ideas?

have u been to vietnam in the first place? there are a no of ways to do for eg buy a property there or open a trading account there or place a deposit with their banks. there are some locally listed companies with quite substantial exposures in vietnam as well

I did a search and found a VIETNAM ETF listed in SGX..

Historic price trend appears bad...

I wonder whether is this ETF properly correlated to Vietnam..

both DBS and Deustche have ETFs. the market has not performed so no surprise if the ETFs do the same.

Hi pianist,
any idea to what extent foreigners can directly trade the country's stocks or hold property, own businesses? i seem to recall restrictions including company type. it could be interesting and risky as well, especially for small fry within an authoritarian regime - although of course, returns are correlated to risks!
I believe local listed companies with Vietnam investments only have that investment as part of their portfolio ie. not the main part of their business.
