With rising cost of commodities from sand to rare earths to metals what do you think is the cost of producing 5 cents these days?

I have a hobby and that is hoarding any and all 5 cents and 1 cents which I can find, it's a cheap hobby for obvious reasons. I keep them stored a plastic container that used to hold a wine bottle, that container nearly full already. I also collect old singapore coins whenever I come across any.

The value of 5 cents will always be 5 cents but the cost to the state to produce them may have gone up plenty already Big Grin

I do recall the value of the 1-cent coin was lower than the cost of producing it, which was why it was eventually phased out.

it think it should be the other way? if it costs more to produce example costs 1.3 cts to produce a 1 cts coin then the state is losing money so they phase out or produce less for circulation.

copper prices have gone through the ceiling. Think what it must costing ST to produce rifle ammunition for the army these days, every time our army lads go to firing range *ouch* Big Grin

1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!
