I am always grateful to the generations of Singaporeans before me who made it possible for us all. We are merely standing on the shoulders of giants before us.

It's rather difficult to convince how bad the life was. Not sure if I wanted to go through the same 70's and 80's again. It was pretty nostalgic but to say that the life was easy, i think it must be a joke.haha.
Life was slow and simple indeed. But, it was so simply because there was not a choice at all. No money meaned the only activity was either stayed at home or walked around the neighbourhood shops or pasar malam.
Taking a boat to Sentosa was already an awesome outing. The night before, too excited, could not sleep ah.....haha
Going overseas? never even thought about it.

Occasionally, there were posts elsewhere that praised the life of 70's and 80's. Maybe the thread starter was rich then.

2) FFNow, your're welcomed. I've learnt first hand that citizens have to bear some of the "blame" if we get to enjoy the freebies without questioning who is paying for them. And if I see thunderstorms coming my way, I better seek shelter early - don't wait for govt warning than act. Avoid the panic crowded trade.
