I have a question that kind of bothering me,
When the company declares a dividend which is sth "Less Tax",
what's the proper way to calculate the actual return?

This happens for REITS counters,
For example,
SUNTEC REAL ESTATE INV TRUST DIVIDEND 27 Jul 2011 29 Jul 2011 29 Aug 2011 010411 - 300611 SGD 0.00571 TAX EXEMPT
SUNTEC REAL ESTATE INV TRUST DIVIDEND 27 Jul 2011 29 Jul 2011 29 Aug 2011 010411 - 300611 SGD 0.01961 LESS TAX

For the "SGD 0.01961 LESS TAX", how much tax to be deducted?

You mean how much tax will be deducted for the company or as an individual? As an individual, we won't be taxed if I'm not wrong.

I mean for the individual,
For above example, does it mean the actual amount to be credited will be SGD 0.01961 exactly?

Dividends are not taxable if they are
  • Foreign dividends received in Singapore on or after 1 Jan 2004. This excludes foreign source income received through partnerships in Singapore.
  • Income distributions from unit trusts and real estate investment trusts (REIT), that are authorised under Section 286 of the Securities and Futures Act (excludes distributions out of franked dividends) on or after 1 Jan 2004.
  • One-tier exempt dividends from companies under the one-tier corporate tax system.

Yes it will be SGD 0.01961 exactly or in total SGD 0.00571 + SGD 0.01961. You will get whatever that is declared.
